Savage Race is the most badass mud and obstacle race event yet. Our unique courses feature big, rugged obstacles spread out over 4 – 6 treacherous miles. This is one tough race, and we guarantee that it will completely kick your ass. We warn you that this race is not for everyone, and it's definitely not your average family fun run or ‘mud race'. If you're afraid of extreme obstacles, fire, mud, and bruises, DO NOT sign up for Savage Race. But if you're tough, you need to prove it. Are you a Savage? Prove it at Savage Race.
We lovingly call our participants Savages because we believe you have to find your inner barbarian to power through our intense 4-6 mile races. Some of our most intense obstacles have include the Shriveled Richard ice bath, the incredibly steep Sawtooth Bars, a leap over rows of fire and of course crawling through thick mud under barbed wire. Savage Race prides itself on having the biggest obstacles and featuring the most per mile; a true Savage Challenge. We also scout for the gnarliest terrain available in your area to offer participants the added challenge of treacherous terrain.
At Savage Race we believe that we deserve to play just as hard as we work, and our Savages certainly deserve it after completing one of our races. That's why at the end of each event we reward participants with frosty beer, delicious barbeque and awesome music at what we like to call the “Outrageous Savage After Party.”
Our mission at Savage Race is to provide endurance enthusiasts with something even bigger than the race itself. We want participants to push themselves until they think they can run no further, climb no higher and go no faster. Being a Savage means pushing yourself to the ultimate limit, and the high you will feel after completing one of our events is something that you will never forget.

Great Race
This was the first time this race was at this venue and first time I participated and I have to say, it was a great venue and race. Parking was very well organized. Check-in started slow, but quickly started to churn people through the process. There was a snafu with the National Anthem, but the organizers sang it acapella and did a great job. The obstacles were well spaced from each other to break up the run distance. They had a few "fad" obstacles (ice obstacle - Shriveled Richard, shock obstacle - Tazed) but I think in the coming seasons these will be phased out and replaced with other new challenges.
The mud on this farm was like no other. It was thick and soupy at the same time. When you are crawling through the mud and you sink in up to your elbows - it makes for a tough mud crawl. I'm sure more than a pair of shoes were claimed. The race was over 5 miles and a definite challenge. I'll be back in the fall which is at Hopkins Game Farm again and looking forward to see a new layout.
Definitely coming back next year!
It was organized from the minute you pulled in to the parking. Check-in was smooth, Race MC pumped everyone up, started on time. Race was 4.6 miles and the terrain itself was an obstacle, but that only made it better :) Lots of obstacles, and degrees of difficulty, very little waiting at obstacles. Every team was announced as they crossed the finish line. Liked that we could have spectators to take pics throughout. Only downfall was the cost of pics from the race photographers. They got some great shots, but after paying 3 race admissions, parking and spectator...we will just admire them from the computer.
Savage Race aka Mini Tough Mudder
Awesome Race. Will be returning in 2015.
A 5-mile version of the Tough Mudder - Obstacles are either as good/hard or better/harder. Did it with a team of 8 - you can do this race solo but some of the obstacles may be tricky alone (the pipe mainly).
Check-in was a bit confusing - by BIB NUMBER???? WTF... We didn't have our bibs yet because you give them out and no one reads every email you send us. Use our last names or last 4 of phone numbers next time PLEASE.
Awesome MC, great staff, good medical support, nice terrain (Paintball facility is a great fit!), nice medals and shirt, $5 bag check and $10 parking should be built into the cost not separate.
For next year? Please have better food at the end and beer that isn't Miller/Coors/Bud. Maybe more race photographers too. Push your charity more!
Like I said - awesome event and we will be back! Maybe add a harder race or a race variation (more obstacles/miles) for return participants? Others started doing it this year and it makes people want to come back for more!
Savage race
Amazing race. You must do it. My first race ever. It was on my bucket list and now I'm hooked. We will be doing it every year. Expensive but worth it!
Dissapointing
They didn't bother to tell us until we showed up for our original starting time that they were bumping us back 2 hours. Several of us couldn't wait around that long and when we asked for a refund they told us "Sorry, no refunds." Very unprofessional. Overall, the race itself was definitely not worth the wait. Would not recommend.
This Race SUCKS
This is the second time I've gotten duped into trying Savage and it was TERRIBLE both times. None of our group had a good time. So poorly organized and a HUGE waste of money.
I ran the Savage Race last year and it is just as advertised. Built to kick your butt! There were two aspects of the race that I did not like and it made me hesitate doing it again. First you start the race in a pool of ice infested water with barbed wire hanging in the middle. The goal is to make you submerge. It got backed up and I found myself climbing over top of people to get the hell out. The final stage you must crawl through the mud as gazers hang above. They randomly zap you. Though its not so bad if it catches you on the leg or back, but when it hits your head area it feels like you've been punched by Mike Tyson. Be warned, it WILL get you and it WILL hurt!! Everything else was a blast and I had a lot of fun.
One Savage Event
Savage Race Georgia 2014 – Spring
Savage Race returned for its third visit to Georgia and once again put on a great event. Savage Race has proved once again that they understand how to build and plan an OCR. The course was listed at 6 miles, with GPS reading at 5.5 to 6.1. The up and down on the back hills at the Moonlight Stables is and was hard on everyone’s legs. The rain the day before and day of the event made for vast amounts of mud.
Savage had their usual obstacles on site, now when I say usually I mean Savage usual, Sawtooth was extra tough with the light rain going on, Davy Jones, Nutt Smasher, Shriveled Richard, and of course Collosus was on site. Savage also showed us one of their new obstacles, Pipe Dreams. Imagine a pipe hanging from some chains over a water pit. Now cross said pipe, no feet allowed. With the light mist and rain going on this was one savage obstacle, the pipes got slick making it difficult to get a hold of let alone to move along. The weather also had a factor at Savage Race’s big obstacle, Collosus was extra fun, with a good quantity of mud on the approach run, than the rain and mist made the surface a little slick to say the least. Now those same negatives on the backside of Collosus were a big positive, the slide was extra fast, with most people entering the water about mid pool.
Savage kept with the idea of the finish line right at the end of Collosus, so that participants were not covered in mud when they were handed their medal and shirt.
As with any event there were a few complaints, mostly from the volunteers. I was unable to get an answer if Savage had cut back on the number of volunteers or if the weather played a factor in the volunteer turnout. The complaints were the same as just about every other race; volunteers feeling like they were forgotten, over worked poor to bad “free lunch”. I can say that at the end of the day, the last groups coming in must have felt like they had been forgotten. I personally climbed up Collosus to help encourage people to slide down and help pull people up the wall. I was not a volunteer this time and had spent 20 -30 minutes pulling people up when I ran. There were a couple of Savage employees who stepped up and helped get the last groups up Collosus.
If you missed out on the spring Savage in Georgia, Savage has already locked in a fall event at the same location. Registration is now open for the fall event, so go sign up, start running your hills and get ready to be Savage.
My rating for the Spring Georgia Savage Race is 4.5 stars. Savage is doing a great job, they still have a few things to work out, but all in all, a really good event.
Coldest one to date
This was my first mud race and man it was an amazing experience. The weather was the biggest obstacle 34*, freezing rain, wind up to 25mph from the North. Lots of room for parking and signing up was easy. Only true complaint I have would be the lack of changing and cleaning amenities. Other than that I'm glad I was able to finish the race that only half that signed up were able to do.
Fantastic
This race was very well run. Checkin took less than 30 seconds (compare that to over two hours at a Warrior Dash). The obstacles were on a large scale and creative. They struck a good balance between making the obstacles challenging but still fun. The MC at the starting line did a good job entertaining/getting us pumped while we waited for our wave to start. I'm definitely sticking with Savage Race for all my Mud Run needs!
