The Indian Mud run is a very challenging obstacle course race through beautiful hills alongside spectacular rock formations. The Indian Mud Run is an official Obstacle Course Racing World Championship qualifier with the top 5 in each age group men and women qualifying for age group divisions and the top 3 overall men and women qualifying for Pro division.
The 2017 race will feature Dewayne Montgomery “Coach Pain” as the start line motivator. New in 2017 the Indian Mud Run will offer 2 race lengths and a new start and finish line area. We also have a 3 lap option (20 miles-150 obstacles) and all 3 lap finishers earn an authentic American Indian made arrow upon completion.
The competitive waves will be 6 plus miles long with 50 plus obstacles. The non-competitive waves will be around a 5k length and offer close to 35 obstacles. The terrain is an obstacle itself and the course will challenge you with world class obstacles.
Some of the obstacles include 20’ cargo net climb, Swivel ladder climb, natural rock climb with ropes, steep hills, Net climb over ravine, Cliff climb on rope ladder, Log traverse, 165’ water slide, 20’ high climbing wall, mud pit and many more. The competitive course is mandatory obstacle completion with bands. The competitive course will have the above obstacles plus the weaver, Rig, walls, rappel, and end with the ¾ mile gauntlet of Skull valley, Irish table, Rope traverse, 40 foot monkey bars, Dragons back, Rope climb, Rig, Half pipe wall and slide into pond, Destroyer and Wall hanger. 4 of the gauntlet obstacles are signature obstacles from past Obstacle Course Racing World Championships and are used with permission from the obstacles owners.
The top 3 finishers in each 5 year age group will receive an authentic American Indian made Tomahawk but you must run in the competitive waves to be eligible for the Tomahawk. The top 15 in each age group will have their name on the back of the following year’s shirt. After the race you get a free can beer (not draft) and a free ride on our Blob pillow. Racers also get a cool medal, and a beautiful shirt. Shirts include the top 500 placers from the previous year’s race. We also have a separate kid’s course.
Our mission is to provide the best mud run possible. We strive to have the best course, a great shirt, a cool finisher’s medal, fun post-race entertainment and good food all at a fair price. We have an awesome course with spectacular rock formations, great views, super obstacles and easy access with a 4 lane highway less than a quarter mile away. Some of our best obstacles are very spectator friendly so bring a camera, some friends and a big smile.

Best OCR race in the US
The Indian Mud Run is the most challenging OCR race I have competed in. The course is amazing and the obstacles are tough. But what i like most is the “ family” feeling you get at the race. The town is so supportive, the mayor was there! Hubie does a great job. If your going to travel to a race next year, this should be your destination! 5 stars!
Best OCR hands down!
Out of all the Obstacle course races I have done, Indian Mud Run is by far my favorite! If I could only do one race a year this would be it! Hubie really goes out of his way and puts his heart and soul into this race. It’s very technical and challenging but so much fun! The 6-7 mile course is packed full of obstacles that will challenge you physically and mentally. The scenery on course is beautiful and the natural terrain obstacles are second to none. I would highly recommend this course to anyone!
Hidden gem of OCR
I've been to several local once a year OCR races and they've ranged from terrible to decent but Indian mud run changes all of that! IMR put on a world class race with dozens of unique obstacles and masterful use of the terrain- they've once again made an amazing event that everyone in OCR should experience

First time Indian Mud Runner, long time OCR...er. When I sign up for a race, especially one I have not experienced before, I like to do my research and be as prepared as possible. For me, this ensures as successful a race as possible. So going in, I knew it would be 6-7 miles of lots and lots of obstacles. I had never seen so many obstacles packed into such a distance. I wondered how much running we could actually do with so many obstacle stops.
All of prerace went smoothly with no problems, IMR has their transportation, registration, and start/finish festival down. Local beer and local coffee companies were great to see there. But when I saw the food stand selling chicken, shrimp, and fish tacos, I knew where I’d be headed to after I was done. And it did not disappoint, food was delicious.
Now the race itself...IMR does not hold back on the obstacles, obviously, with 72 total. But they also don’t hold back on the terrain, it was some of the most technical and challenging terrain I’ve seen at an OCR. Rocky inclines so steep you have to either rappel down with a rope, or climb up with the same said rope. I’m no rock climber, and the heights were considerable on most of them, so I was unsure on these obstacles. Definitely a time to focus, go slow, and very carefully.
My favorite obstacles on course had to be all the crazy rigs that IMR comes up with, and the biggest man-made water slide I’ve ever done. Nuclear Ninja Rings, Force 5 Gibbons, the Red Rig, and Indian Skull Valley make sure that your upper body and grip strength will be tested thoroughly by race’s end. Much more challenging and fun to figure out that your standard rig. And really, who doesn’t love a water slide? This one is huge and so much fun, coming at a great spot of the course where you could really use a cold dip to revitalize yourself.
Overall, for not having done IMR before, I was very impressed by the race and how it it run. It’s a big time challenge with a small town family feel. I’ll be back next year to see what they come up with next!
Challenging but fun
Hands down one of the most challenging OCR races I have ever done. Loved the versatility of obstacles. Had lots of challenging rigs , crazy walls, super fun water slides and more. Definitely will be one race we try to do every year. LOVED it!!!
“Bucket List Race”
First time Indian Mud Runner here and this event was everything I hoped it would be and more! 72 obstacles and 6+ miles with 100% obstacle completion is not an easy task! This race challenged you mentally and physically and I’m SO SO glad I made the trip. It was a relaxed atmosphere that made you actually want to hang out post-race. The course could use 1 more water station but otherwise it’s top-notch! I’ll be back next year with friends!!
OCR- 1st time ever doing IMR
I have been OCR for 3 years, the length of the race was perfect, just over 6 miles. The 72 obstacles were diverse enough to challenge anyone. There were enough water stations throughout the race that I did not need my Camelpack. The terrain was technical in some spots, and great use of natural resources/ terrain. Really enjoyed the slip and slide. Coach Pain was an excellent motivator for the start of the race. The staff and the volunteers were very pleasant, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend for any person who would want to try OCR racing due to the ability to choose a smaller course.
Hands down best ocr race
Hands down the best OCR event ive particpated in. With 70 plus obstacles it challenges you both physically and mentally. Its not a easy course but thats also part of the uniquness of the race. It has a ton of big time hardcore obstacles from different race series along with a ton of unique and speicaialty ones specific only to this race. The owner is passionate about putting on a good event and he does a great job at doing so. Ill be back next year hoping to earn one of those bands. Its also a great family type atmosphere amongst fellow racers. its like a big picnic after finishing. This is a bucket list race you have to try.
The best race
This was my first time running this race. I have ran 2 other OCR before but this is my favorite one. The obstacles and course is very challenging and I will add it was a lot of fun. I was not able to conquer some of the obstacles but it makes me want to do better for next time. The volunteers were awesome and the shirts and medals were great!!
