Indian Mud Run obstacle races, mud run, and OCR information, distance, cost, dates, calendar, discounts, obstacles, reviews, and more
The Indian Mud run is a very challenging obstacle course race through beautiful hills alongside spectacular rock formations. The Indian Mud Run is an official Obstacle Course Racing World Championship qualifier with the top 5 in each age group men and women qualifying for age group divisions and the top 3 overall men and women qualifying for Pro division.
The 2017 race will feature Dewayne Montgomery “Coach Pain” as the start line motivator. New in 2017 the Indian Mud Run will offer 2 race lengths and a new start and finish line area. We also have a 3 lap option (20 miles-150 obstacles) and all 3 lap finishers earn an authentic American Indian made arrow upon completion.
The competitive waves will be 6 plus miles long with 50 plus obstacles. The non-competitive waves will be around a 5k length and offer close to 35 obstacles. The terrain is an obstacle itself and the course will challenge you with world class obstacles.
Some of the obstacles include 20’ cargo net climb, Swivel ladder climb, natural rock climb with ropes, steep hills, Net climb over ravine, Cliff climb on rope ladder, Log traverse, 165’ water slide, 20’ high climbing wall, mud pit and many more. The competitive course is mandatory obstacle completion with bands. The competitive course will have the above obstacles plus the weaver, Rig, walls, rappel, and end with the ¾ mile gauntlet of Skull valley, Irish table, Rope traverse, 40 foot monkey bars, Dragons back, Rope climb, Rig, Half pipe wall and slide into pond, Destroyer and Wall hanger. 4 of the gauntlet obstacles are signature obstacles from past Obstacle Course Racing World Championships and are used with permission from the obstacles owners.
The top 3 finishers in each 5 year age group will receive an authentic American Indian made Tomahawk but you must run in the competitive waves to be eligible for the Tomahawk. The top 15 in each age group will have their name on the back of the following year’s shirt. After the race you get a free can beer (not draft) and a free ride on our Blob pillow. Racers also get a cool medal, and a beautiful shirt. Shirts include the top 500 placers from the previous year’s race. We also have a separate kid’s course.
Our mission is to provide the best mud run possible. We strive to have the best course, a great shirt, a cool finisher’s medal, fun post-race entertainment and good food all at a fair price. We have an awesome course with spectacular rock formations, great views, super obstacles and easy access with a 4 lane highway less than a quarter mile away. Some of our best obstacles are very spectator friendly so bring a camera, some friends and a big smile.

Must do race of the season
My absolute very course. The technical terrain and elevation will crush you but leave you coming back for more year after year. This was my third time running this race and if there’s one race I travel to every year, I will hands down pick this one. I love that it’s an obstacle completion race with lots of challenging obstacles. This race keeps getting better and better. I’m really looking forward to their 10th anniversary race in 2022.
MUST Run!!
This was my first year running this race and it completely lived up to the hype!! I will be back next year to have my butt handed to me in the Chief's Challenge!
Hardest Run you will ever love
Hubie and his team continue to put on and event that is fun, challenging and uses every bit of the terrain that is available to him.
The obstacles are a mix of traditional, fun and innovative that allows you to have success and struggles.
By the end of the day you are beat with the biggest smile!
There are obstacles unlike you will see at other races. Im from Florida and It was most challenging just the hills alone. Upper body strength IS something I worked on before the race and Im glad I did, lots of climbing. Challenging obsticals but fun ones for sure. Its a weekend well spent. 10k and 5k. I decided to run the 10 even though Im 56 years old because I knew, Id be upset missing the challange of every obstical out there. Since running OCR since 2012, why I waited so long to run Indian mud run I have no idea. Ill definitely be back next year!!!
Test you might
I consider this the hardest ocr there is. Each year this race brings I the hardest obstacles from a over to test a competitor's ability. You have to bring your "A" game for this one. They're to this race is it is hard but also has what I call nagging obstacles. Which are random things on clurse that slow you down and make sure your paying attention. Also the homemade aspect of alot of the obstacles add to it. I reccomend doing it if your really want to test your training g while having a good time. The owner and staff amd very personable and openly engage you. The atmosphere is also alot of fun after the race is waylaid back amd a relaxing type after completing. Check egos at the door.
A do not miss event!
I’ve run these races for nearly 10 years now. IMR is a DO NOT MISS event. Every year it runs so smoothly like a well oiled machine. The obstacles are challenging yet doable and they add up as you continue through the course. Over 7 miles of brutal terrain, it chews you up and spits you out, yet it’s SO dang beautiful you almost forget the pain you’re enduring! So many obstacles- an ocr racers dream.

Must do event!
This race is a must do. For everyone who runs the bigger name races put this on your schedule. The obstacles and terrain are top notch. Course layout is well thought out and will challenge all aspects of your training. Plus as a big bonus there is a big water slide mid race to really have some "fun" on.
Best OCR 2021
I am left in awe after this race!!!
I have done several OCR's since 2012. I don't know how I've missed this race! The terrain was amazing. They offer a variety of obstacles in several levels of difficulty. The race was challenging but not impossible. I will definitely add this to my calendar every year. Totally worth the 6 hour drive!!
Excellent, for the obstacle lover
Excellent OCR!!!
If you don’t read any further, just remember: this race makes some big name races of equal and longer distances look like preschool. This was my first IMR and it superceded the hype of the reviews. Of the 85 obstacles, several took everything I had to complete (or not complete). Much of the terrain wasn’t much more forgiving. I’ll definitely be back with the family to do 3 laps to complete The Chiefs Challenge and so my son can get his first IMR under his belt. Parking, registration, bag check, music, food, and atmosphere was all great also. Sign up as soon as you can!!!
