The Indian Mud run is a very challenging obstacle course race through beautiful hills alongside spectacular rock formations. The Indian Mud Run is an official Obstacle Course Racing World Championship qualifier with the top 5 in each age group men and women qualifying for age group divisions and the top 3 overall men and women qualifying for Pro division.
The 2017 race will feature Dewayne Montgomery “Coach Pain” as the start line motivator. New in 2017 the Indian Mud Run will offer 2 race lengths and a new start and finish line area. We also have a 3 lap option (20 miles-150 obstacles) and all 3 lap finishers earn an authentic American Indian made arrow upon completion.
The competitive waves will be 6 plus miles long with 50 plus obstacles. The non-competitive waves will be around a 5k length and offer close to 35 obstacles. The terrain is an obstacle itself and the course will challenge you with world class obstacles.
Some of the obstacles include 20’ cargo net climb, Swivel ladder climb, natural rock climb with ropes, steep hills, Net climb over ravine, Cliff climb on rope ladder, Log traverse, 165’ water slide, 20’ high climbing wall, mud pit and many more. The competitive course is mandatory obstacle completion with bands. The competitive course will have the above obstacles plus the weaver, Rig, walls, rappel, and end with the ¾ mile gauntlet of Skull valley, Irish table, Rope traverse, 40 foot monkey bars, Dragons back, Rope climb, Rig, Half pipe wall and slide into pond, Destroyer and Wall hanger. 4 of the gauntlet obstacles are signature obstacles from past Obstacle Course Racing World Championships and are used with permission from the obstacles owners.
The top 3 finishers in each 5 year age group will receive an authentic American Indian made Tomahawk but you must run in the competitive waves to be eligible for the Tomahawk. The top 15 in each age group will have their name on the back of the following year’s shirt. After the race you get a free can beer (not draft) and a free ride on our Blob pillow. Racers also get a cool medal, and a beautiful shirt. Shirts include the top 500 placers from the previous year’s race. We also have a separate kid’s course.
Our mission is to provide the best mud run possible. We strive to have the best course, a great shirt, a cool finisher’s medal, fun post-race entertainment and good food all at a fair price. We have an awesome course with spectacular rock formations, great views, super obstacles and easy access with a 4 lane highway less than a quarter mile away. Some of our best obstacles are very spectator friendly so bring a camera, some friends and a big smile.

Most Unique Event
This was my second year appreciating in this amazing event. The course will defintely test everything you got, that is why this race is so great because of how different and unique it is from the rest. My favorite part about this race was that they use the environment to create unique obstacles and they also built thier own different and challenging obstacles, also how different the medals and rewards were, everything hand crafted which was pretty cool. As for the course I personally think it was marked very well, I did not have any trouble navigating through it. I also liked how they marked each obstacle so you knew where you were at and how many more you had left! I also thought the water stations were spaced out prefectly. The food vendors were also a great added bonus! Also, having Coach Pain as the announcer was awesome. Overall it was a great event and still #1 in my book definetly a good time.
This was my first time at this race. It was easily the most challenging course I have ever done next to OCRWC. The obstacles were well built and many were unique to this race. Great use of the Terrance. Great rewards at the end. This will be a must do race on my schedule from now on.
Good and bad
First off this course has amazing obstacles and terrain. It's a action packed course. This is my second year in a row running this event and the course was completely different, for the good. The swag is great! The medal was awesome and there were lots of vendors on hand.
The things I feel could use more attention are the course markings. Again we got off course this year because of a confusing and not very so well marked course. It seemed to be the biggest complaint again this year after talking to many many people who ran it. There was no lifeguard at the water obstacle where you slide down the slide and had to conquer the obstacle floating in the lake. I also didn't receive an email confirming my registration, but I did contact them thru messenger and they did verify I was registered.
Overall a very good experience and I will be back for year 3 and hopefully the course will be better marked.
Outside of OCRWC, this race is my favorite. 50+ top notch obstacles, tough and beautiful terrain, great price, awesome age group awards, and 3 options so racers of all levels can compete. This race has it all. It easily beats the big name races. Do it!
My Favorite OCR to Run
Hubie (the course mastermind) really stepped up his game this year in designing the new 10k course. It had all my favorite parts of the former 5k race as well as new, challenging but exciting obstacles. If the 10k course was too much for you, the 5k course was still an option. It is hands down my favorite OCR to attend. I first experienced the IMR in 2016 and signed up the day the tickets went on sale for 2017. It's my most anticipated course because you really never know what Hubie is going to have in store for you and it uses both man-made and the natural terrain as the obstacles. It's a very enjoyable course to run and still challenging; I highly recommend it.
Best local/small OCR 5k I've done. The rugged, natural terrain was the biggest obstacle. Mud and hills galore. Obstacles themselves were top notch and had an element of danger not found at many large corporate race series. Finish line could be more organized for finding beer and swag but that's a small complaint compared to the value of this race.
