Race Recap: Spartan Race Super – Austin, TX

By |May 22nd, 2015|

Located at Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, TX, this 1,300 acre property boasted lots trails, ponds/lakes and green scenery. This was a perfect canvass for the Spartan masterminds to plan a course. The site offered lots of space and a large covered pavilion overlooking a private lake. At first, it almost seemed that Spartan was not going to open the gates due to the wind, rain and lightning. There was a slight delay of entry, which caused the waves to become backed up. I was mentally preparing myself for a miserable day of wet spectating, but the rain eventually stopped and the clouds gave way to the sun later in the day.

Race Recap: Spartan Race Montana – Sprint

By |May 21st, 2015|

Being my first time in Montana, I was not quite sure what to expect. Needless to say, I was blown away by the natural beauty of Bigfork and the grounds of Averill’s Flathead Lake Lodge. From the snow-capped Rockies to the never-ending Flathead Lake to the pine covered mountains of the course, Mother Nature left me in awe. Spartan picked a great venue to hold both the Beast and Sprint Founders Race.

Race Recap: Spartan Race Tri-State Beast

By |April 30th, 2015|

I started the last wave of the day at 2pm for the Spartan Race Tri-State Beast with mostly volunteers as this was the volunteer wave. It may have been the end of the day, but Spartan pre-race announcer Dustin Dorough was able to recite his pre-race speech without missing a beat and faster than ever.

Race Recap: HH12hr-009: Funishment in Sin City

By |April 29th, 2015|

Spartan Race is all about ripping people out of their comfort zones, testing their boundaries, and focusing a spotlight on any holes in an athlete’s training. Nowhere is this more obvious that in their 12h hurricane heat.

Race Recap: Spartan Race Charlotte

By |April 22nd, 2015|

The Spartan Race this year was held in the same venue that was voted “Muddiest Spartan” last year, and though there was less mud, it was considerably warmer and the race experience was an improvement. Many new obstacles have been added to Sprint Races this year, while several others receive modifications and upgrades from race to race. Overall the bar has been raised on what to expect from a Sprint.
