OCR World Championships Announces 3k Short Course

New for 2016, the OCR Short Course Championships will pit athletes against one another on a fast-paced, obstacle-packed 3 kilometer course. The greatest combination of speed, strength, and technique will be paramount on a course that will leave little room for error in order for athletes to claim the title of World Champion.

Spartan Race Makes OCR Debut at The Running Event

New this year is the Experiential Zone in the ACC's Hall 5. Experience obstacle racing from Spartan Race; ElliptiGO elliptical cycling which combines the best of running, cycling and the elliptical trainer; inov-8 strength training for runners; and TRX suspension training, anytime Wed. afternoon through Friday mid-day, Dec. 2 to 4. A media demo is planned Thurs., Dec. 3., starting at 6 a.m.

For Chris Kyle: The Glen Rose Double Beast Weekend

Some of you know me as the Chairman of the Chris Kyle Memorial Run that we hold every year in conjunction with the Spartan Beast in Glen Rose, Tx. The reason we do this at THIS race is that it's held, every year, at Rough Creek Ranch, the same location where Chris and his friend Chad Littlefield were shot and killed in February of 2013 while trying to help a former Marine suffering from severe PTSD.

On October 17, 2015, the best obstacle racers in the world came together to battle it out in Oregonia, OH, USA at the premiere event in OCR. The nearly 10 mile course was littered with obstacles of all shapes and sizes, some natural and many man-made; sure to test the mettle of even the most resolute and talented athlete.

The inaugural 2015 Nashville Spartan Sprint was held October 24th at Fort Campbell, Kentucky on the scenic grounds of Fort Campbell itself. The 5.34-mile course only boasted 154 feet of total elevation gain which made it one of the easiest Spartan Races I’ve ever done.

Two days ago we published the article, Spartan Race OCR Competition TV Show or Just More Human Interest Drama?, written by contributor Evan Perperis. In the article, he noted the reasons he did not apply for the new Spartan Race competition reality show and also his doubts surrounding the focus on the show. The article spurred much discussion among the community. Two voices who have experience with competition reality television asked to voice their opinions regarding the article.
