Race Recap: Dallas Savage Race

By |September 16th, 2016|

With their spot-on marketing, and Facebook posts from my east coast friends, I COULD NOT WAIT to run a Savage Race. Being that they don’t go further west than Texas, I decided to take matters into my own hands and signed up for the Dallas Savage Race on September 10, 2016.

Faces at the Races — Mike Weaver

By |August 22nd, 2016|

I grew up very active in sports and played a little over a year of college football. OCR gives me that opportunity to still feel competitive. OCR also allows me to push myself further than I have in any sport I have ever played and I love pushing myself to see how far I can truly go.

Last Week in OCR: From Sea-to-Sea

By |June 27th, 2016|

One of the things many of us love best about Obstacle Course Racing, is that the races come in so many forms. Not just the variety of obstacles and terrain, but that no matter what your skill level, there is something out there for everyone. Whether a race has 60 per year, or 6, is International, or a one-off rural labor of love – we are there having fun with our friends and family, doing what everyone else thinks we are crazy for doing, and knowing that they are the crazy ones for missing out.

Savage Race, Ohio – Race Recap

By |June 20th, 2016|

Mad River Mountain: Zanesville OH was the sight for this year’s Savage Race Ohio.  The event has been held at this location for some years, and the success of the Savage series would not disappoint. A hot morning brought the competitors to the Mad River Mountain ski facility in Zanesfield, OH (a short distance Northwest of Columbus).  Serene farmlands entailed the drive up to the location in the rural area; with its unassuming lack of hills?  Rounding the last turn unveiled where they were hiding, and Savage Race found them.

Race Recap: Savage Race Ohio

By |June 17th, 2016|

The Ohio Savage Race is an event that I have been looking forward to all year after having attended last year at the same venue. Those of you following along at home may remember that last year I gave high praise to the event and was so bold to suggest that Savage may need to be considered a serious contender to “The Big Three”. I can firmly say that numbers be damned, Savage is securely one of the top obstacle course racing series in the business.

Opinion: OCR is Evolving…and It Seems Not Many People Are Happy About That

By |May 20th, 2016|

Obstacle Course Racing in North America was born just seven years ago. Exploding onto the sports and fitness scene in an unprecedented way. Becoming even more popular than marathons by 2014. This in itself was a huge change from the previous sports norms, and people are still writing epic volumes trying to explain why. So it really shouldn't come as any great surprise that Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) has been evolving continuously ever since.
