Race Spotlight: BoldrDash

By |March 23rd, 2016|

BoldrDash is known as one of the great local race series in the northeastern United States. Lynn Hall the series founder and race director said BoldrDash, the Bold stands for Boldly Overcoming Limitations with Determination, first came up with the idea for her race series in the back of her car after taking about 50 people for the first Spartan Race in Amesbury in 2010. She took that idea and ran with it, holding the first BoldrDash in Rhode Island at Yawgoo Valley Ski Area in Exeter on August 13, 2011. Since that time the series has grown to be a staple race in the northeast. Lynn Hall took the time to answer some questions to get to know BoldrDash better.

SoCal Spartan Weekend – A Study in Contrasts

By |February 7th, 2016|

Spartan Race kicked off its 2016 season in Southern California last weekend with back to back races at Vail Lake in Temecula. Immediately obvious on arriving at the venue was the distressing lack of water in the lake; with a drop of at least 10-15’ of depth since our last visit back in September, it was clear that the long California drought is far from over. This also left exposed a vast mud plain that was once the lake bottom and would play a role in the race.

What is Spartan DELTA?

By |December 21st, 2015|

One interesting photo emerged on social media last Saturday, a 4-sided triangular "delta" with what appeared to be Spartan Race Trifecta medal holders on 3 of the visible sides. Speculation began immediately; is it just a cool triple (or quadruple, don't forget the bottom triangle) Trifecta holder?

Is Obstacle Racing a New Form of Therapy?

By |December 15th, 2015|

I have heard this often enough to believe there is something to it, and that obstacle course racing can be a powerful tool in recovery from a variety of serious conditions. How and why? The scientist in me was curious.
