Savage Race stages events twice a year at this permanent venue in rural Georgia, they succeed in making each race special and different. Familiarity may breed contempt, but every time a racer hits this course they are sure to experience something different from what’s happened before.
The Warrior Dash World Championship returns for a second year on Saturday, October 10, 2015. The event is hosted at Milky Way Farms, moving east after last year’s event in California. The Warrior Dash World Championship is an obstacle course race where international athletes sprint through 3.6 miles of terrain and trails to battle for their share of $100,000 and the ultimate bragging rights.
Over the weekend, athletes were getting their final races in before the championship season. With races happening all around the world this past weekend we highlight, Savage Race, Spartan Race, Toughest and XMan obstacle course race this week.
Today in a Mud Run Guide exclusive, BattleFrog announced that it has hired, Ryan Atkins and Marco Bedard to design future BattleFrog courses in 2016.
Last week I enjoyed the opportunity to experience Savage Race for the very first time. I have heard many great things about Savage Race but wanted to experience it for myself. Although there was one small obstacle or hurdle rather. Savage Race hasn't made it to the west coast yet, so I packed my bags headed to the lone star state of Grand Ole Texas to see why Savage Race boasts they have, " The World's Best Obstacles.
Spartan Super returned to Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon, New Jersey. I can’t speak for the weather on Saturday, September 12, but Sunday’s event was near perfect conditions with plenty of sunshine. The Spartan Village was a great setup at the base of the mountain with plenty of vendors. For a Sunday event, there were a large numbers or racers on the course.
Labor Day has come and gone; it can mean only one thing, championship race season. With four reoccurring obstacle course racing championships from different companies and one brand new championship event, it raises many questions amongst the athletes of the OCR world. Spartan made its first appearance in the Asheville area in Black Mountain, NC today using The Grove Sand & Stone Company as its location. There was plenty of parking relatively close to the start line and the festival area was also nicely spread out on this beautiful property. The scenery was amazing.
A few years ago, I had cause to look up "torn calf muscle" on Google, and was more than a little irked to read it described as "a common injury among middle-aged weekend warriors". Well, f*ck you too, Google. Talk about literally adding insult to injury...
