On Saturday, August 11th, 2018, Warrior Dash brought it's Elements Tour to High Point Farm in Clarksburg, Maryland. Not even a weekend dominated by the renowned North American Obstacle Course Racing Championships (NorAm) could distract Warrior Dash faithful.
Having an event located on/near a military base and naming it an "Honor Series" I expected a lot of patriotic fanfare and pride for our nation's military. However, at the end of the day, it just didn't measure up.
While arriving at the Terrain Race on June 23rd, 2018 in West Virginia few indicators stood out about how this race was going to go down. Mud was the theme of the day. From participants covered in mud to a festival that looked like a war movie set in some remote jungle.
Terrain Race is definitely worth checking out – not just for the absolute steal of a deal, but also for its challenging obstacles and the coveted monkey medal waiting for you at the end of your adventure.
The race day weather in Virginia for the Rugged Maniac on Saturday, May 5th, 2018, was perfect. On this scenic day, it literally felt like an obstacle course racing family reunion, full of games like Cornhole, giant outdoor Beer Pong, fitness competitions, and food options galore. Sure, providing a festival area, which includes a mixture of activities at obstacle course races is nothing new.
Ever run a race in the Washington or Oregon areas and hear a tremendous call and response of, “How Deep? Obstacle course racing and American Ninja Warrior, well, the fitness lifestyle in general, continues to explode throughout the world. We are at the cutting edge of a complete fitness shake-up, and to be completely honest, I love it!
After years of missing this event due to conflicts in personal, business or racing schedules, I was finally able to take on Warrior Dash Oregon, a muddy 5K that continues to attract thousands of participants each every year. It’s always a great day for OCR when you can eat breakfast before and shower after the race at home.
