Spartan introduced today a new format and qualifying events for the 2018 Spartan Team World Championship. The race first debuted in 2017 at the Spartan World Championships weekend in Lake Tahoe with co-ed teams from over twenty countries represented. Spartan looks to build on the momentum of 2017 with a new format and qualifier in 2018.
This morning the Obstacle Course Racing World Championships named the inov-8 the "Official Footwear" of the 2018 event. inov-8 has been a brand synonymous with obstacle racing. The UK-based company is the perfect partnership for the OCR World Championships as the races moves to England this year.
Tough Mudder continues to innovate its offerings in 2017. This year has seen the addition of Tough Mudder X, Toughest Mudder, Tough Mudder 5k, as well as the Tougher Mudder heat at normal Tough Mudder events. Warrior Dash announced today that the popular OCR series will return to Missouri. The return is set for September 30. Warrior Dash hinted to Mud Run Guide that they would be releasing additional venues for the season and this appears to be the first addition.
Last week, Facebook was a blaze with comments after obstacle race company The Urban Trails took over the old BattleFrog Series facebook and other social assets last Wednesday afternoon. BattleFrog ceased operating a few months ago and sold off all the assets. The Urban Trails which held one event in 2015 acquired Battlefrog’s social assets and rebranded the facebook page last Wednesday.
365 Sports Inc. and Crazy Canuck Events have announced Tuesday, January 17th that they will be merging their efforts to bring Mud Hero to Canadians nationwide. 365 Sports Inc has acquired 52% of Crazy Canuck Events marking the largest merger in the Canadian OCR industry. Crazy Canucks has been bringing Mud Hero to adults and kids with 6km and 10km obstacle courses coast to coast. Mud Hero continues to be a favorite Canadian obstacle race series.
The relaunch of Civilian Military Combine is quickly approaching. Today, Civilian Military Combine announces two powerhouse names in the obstacle racing world will be appearing at the CMC relaunch on September 10 at Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, New York. "Coach Pain" Dewayne, the beloved OCR emcee has joined the team to provide his own unique and inspiring messages for participants on race day. Also joining the team on race day is OCR legend, Amelia Boone. Boone will serve as co-host for the CMC Fort Hamilton show which will air on SNY network on Sunday, September 25, 2016.
Spartan Race announced yesterday a new key strategic investment from Hearst Ventures. Hearst Ventures is a unit of Hearst, one of the nation's largest diversified media and information companies. This new investment from Hearst makes the companies first step into the live event space.
