DO NOT DO THIS RACE. I'm not sure where to begin - first of all, the course was super confusing and there was no one to help guide you so runners were telling each other where to go. The course was at horse racing track and looked so thrown together. We just ran circles throughout the place and around the fence. SUPER UNSAFE - every obstacle seemed dinky and about to fall apart. There were no volunteers or workers along the route or medical staff anywhere in sight to make you feel any safer. My friend fell from the top of one of the walls and the medical staff and any event workers took over 5 minutes to get to her and access the situation which was even less help. Everything was a mess, and she ended up going to hospital and having a fracture after medical staff there advised that it seemed she was just fine...her injuries were severe to say the least. The event is not worth time or money - the course isn't even interesting. The staff is a mess and no help. Just don't go.
This was my second Terrain and it was an open heat. It started off getting your HR up with a lot of hills.
The biggest issue was the confusing marked course between the monkey bars and finish line. If I had been running in the elite I probably would've been DQ'd for getting off course.
A week later and we're still waiting for them to post photos and official times.
Kids race was very well done. My girls loved it.
Worst mud run
By far the worst mud run I’ve participated in. Ive done several now and know what makes a good mud run and this one does not make the grade. There obstacles were not good and were primarily for an advanced fitness level. Had to pay a $9.95 insurance fee when registering and $5 bag check fee! Waiting in a long line to park and discover they are making participants sign a property waiver before we could even park the car. Don’t bother signing your waiver online! You have to sign a paper copy waiver when you check-in. No after party or free bottled water or fruit at the finish line. But you do get a small plastic child sized cup of water to take with you at the finish line. Bottom line, save your money. There are many good mud runs out there to enjoy and this one ain’t worth your time or $$!
By far the worst event I have done. I have done many mud runs and this was easily the biggest waste of money. Most of the obstacles were poorly made. One was down right dangerous due to lack of testing it before use. I almost broke my leg and there was no medical staff near this obstacle. I signed up for the unlimited wave where they are supposed to give you an award for each add additional lap completed after the first. I did four extra laps to be told that they didn’t have the reward on site (why in the world didn’t you?). I was told I could email the company to have them mail them to me which I have done numerous times to no response. So apparently it’s ok to charge people money for a product that you aren’t going to have nor are you going to respond appropriately to get it to your customer. In essence stealing money through false advertisement (which is intensely illegal). Absolute waste of money for such an expensively over priced and mismanaged event
Have done many mud runs, Obstacle courses and this was one of the worst....To pay so much money & them the day before the race we cpuks have gotten it for $30 was very upsetting...Than to get to the Race Site & have to pay $15 to park was again upsetting...Then to check a bag was another $5, seriously, no race has ever been this much money for what we got!! Nothing, not only was nobody ever on the course if one of us would have been hurt, but once we did get to a water station, the water was disgusting...We had asked to pick up our T-shirts prior to the event so we could put them away, but instead you made us get them after we were muddy & they were white!! Seriously!! Everything about this race was not worth the money and I feel bad that I had myself & 7 other friends sign up!! Never again!!

It was ok but felt disorganized
My friwnds and I registered for the 10k on a Saturday. A couple of weeks before the wven i receieved an email saying that it was a 5k but we can do another lap to make it 10k. Or we can due a True 10k on Sunday ?? WTH!! Plans have already been made. Whatever, we still show up Saturday and do the run thinking well do the 2 laps and accept the challenge. The water thay they provide wach mile tasted like crap, regular tap waterhose water. And at the end of the race full of mudd, " thats when we get our tahirt AND its white !!! C'mon man. Then give the teashirt at the beginning so i can atleast put it away. And I feel like we shoukd if gotten 10k medals. Bragging rights you know. So the course was a lil challenging and fun but felt unorganized and crappy water!!!
Very poor
My wife and I booked the Elite Heat 10K race with them, we paid more to do this. We were told literally a week before the race that the 10K is no longer timed and there will be no rewards for this race. If you want to win, run the first 5K lap as fast as you can, and then enjoy your second lap! What the actual F****!!! I swear this company doesn't have a brain cell between them!
Here is an email I received from them the other day...

subject:CHANGE: Award Money for 5k Course!
IMPORTANT PRIZE MONEY UPDATE:
We will be awarding prize money to the 5k distance at the Las Vegas October 7th race. The 10k will not receive prize money or rankings.
The 10k course at the Vegas race is two loops on the 5k course and only the first loop is timed. Even though you signed up the 10k, we will automatically time your first loop on the 5k course and place you in the results for the 5k.
Due to changes with course routing at the venue, we have to make this change, thank you for your understanding. After you finish your first lap on the 5k, you can head to the start and run a second lap since you registered for this two-lap 10k option.
There is no action needed on your part for this to happen. You are all set to be timed in the 5k, eligible for prize money, and ready to run a second lap.
"ready to run a second lap." - They MUST have been laughing when they wrote this!!

mediocre
Overall I had a great time. This was my first terrain race and my intent was to complete it and have fun while doing so. I had a blast with my good friend. That being said, based on what I had seen on the website, this was not what I expected and needs alot of improvement.
-First, you shouldn't have to pay $10 parking. it would be one thing to pay $10 parking if there were other parking locations to chose from. However this was at Chicago Speedway in the middle of a masssssive field that accomodates enough cars for NASCAR race weekends. So you have to park at the field! So you're forced to pay. Why not just build this in to the cost. If I hadn't had cash I would've been screwed.
-2nd - There were not enough volunteers/spotters along the course. There were quite a few obstacles that had no volunteers/spotters there. NOT OK. And we completely missed one of the requirements (sand bag on our shoulders when you climbed up the stairs) because there were no sandbags when we went up the stairs. Half the time it was the people infront of you who were telling you what you had to do. People weren't monitoring the completion of the tasks either. At one location if someone had fallen it would've been up the the participants to go run to get emergency.
3rd- I had expected photographers along the way. They were only near and at the finish line. And I had to search through thousands of photos to find mine. And you actually do have to pay for them. It said photos were included with the price.
4th- we checked in no problem...they scanned the code on my phone. But as we're walking around, about 30 minutes later, we see a lady telling to everyone "if youre a participant in the race today, you have to sign a waiver!" (piece of paper). They weren't announcing that when I had checked in. And ummm....isn't this done online?
5th - They handed out the t-shirts at the END of the race when you came across the finish line. Hello, we're wet, and dirty with mud and dust. And they were WHITE t-shirts.
6th - NOT ENOUGH MUD!
7th - there were no obstacles to climb under. Not ONE. I had been looking forward to that actually.
8th and then I'll shut up. - NOT FOOD OR DRINK AT THE FINISH. Any food and drink you wanted, you needed to pay for at the beer tent.
I don't know.....in general I'd have to say my overall feeling is that it was disorganized. No one on the bullhorn telling people when to line up, no signs pointing to where to go for things like hoses, the porta potties should have been at more than one location photo opportunities, food tent, gear check, etc.
