Honestly, this was more of a steeplechase than a traditional OCR. I'm not the fastest or strongest guy out there, but tend to consistently finish in the top 10% overall and in my age group. This race was really more of a 5K, with small impediments throughout.

The only obstacle that really caused any sort of slowdown was RRC's version of Battlefrog's "Tip of the Spear." For me, the delay was 1) waiting on the people in front of me; and 2) getting the rope brought back to me after it was somehow flung over the top.

Some obstacles were certainly pretty lazy too, such as a bunch of strings tied between trees, with no direction. Do we go over? Under? Does it even matter?

There were really only two "obstacles" that I would describe as unique, even if they were a bit lazy. First, you were given one shot to throw a tennis ball into a bin. If you missed, you did something like 5 or 10 burpees. The other obstacle forced you to put an elastic band around your ankles and run to a cone and back. This one definitely put some additional strain on the legs.

All in all, it wasn't a bad race, but I wouldn't classify it as a traditional "obstacle course race."
