Do you have the speed, strength, agility and intelligence necessary to survive the coming Apocalypse? Obstacle Apocalypse is all about expanding on the idea of what an athletic adventure race can be with ‘Amazing Race'-type tasks and humor all set within a basic theme of escaping all the elements of an apocalypse – before time runs out.

Created by thrill-seeking entrepreneurial brothers Carl and Michael Tabor to unite fun adventurous people with good beer, delicious food, and fun music, Obstacle Apocalypse was is an athletic experience like no other. Having completed a few marathons, triathlons, and just about every other ‘mud run,’ the brothers Tabor felt there was room for improvement and a lack of creativity in some of the events they plopped their hard-earned cash down on. They wanted to create a challenging, yet fun athletic/party atmosphere: More fun. Serve better beer. No queues at the obstacles. Thus came the idea of a themed race that not only include military-inspired obstacles, but also unique tasks and challenges, and as much fun and surprises we squeeze in a 5k trail-running course, all wrapped around a central theme of escaping the apocalypse – and you’re fighting against the clock!

Obstacle Apocalypse courses are broken down into three sections:

1. The Beginning of the Apocalypse – smoke, fire, fallen logs and debris for racers to navigate
2. Escape The Burning Town – Adventurers are forced to climb over/under/through a fallen building, grab something and drag it over an obstacle in order to make it out alive
3. Survive The Apocalypse – To survive the final stage in time, contestants must swim, run, and even crawl to the… Oktoberfest after party!

Sense of humor? Check. From a polka band rocking the Octoberfest party at the finish line along with even more tunes while on the course to alternate routes each runner gets to choose their own way to enjoy the day. Think Fast, Run Faster is one of their mottos, while Run Now, Beer Later could easily be another. Obstacle Apocalypse is expanding their number of events and also looking to some other themes they to tackle; all based around a different type of apocalypse-like theme. Whether it involves 4 horsemen, zombie apocalypse, or alien invasion, if you participate in an Obstacle Apocalypse it absolutely is the end of the world as you know it!
