Good Healthy Group Event
Looking for a last minute event that will leave a good memory...this is it! I made it a family event last year & doing the same this year...plus bringing friends! It is not an over-the-top event, but good physical fun & better than staying home!
Give it a shot!
Shouldn’t call it a race with several obstacles. Cargo net twice, water on the slide was NOT working so we couldn’t go down it and that was what interested us. They were packing up before our run was over. Very disappointing. Would not do this again. Waste of time and money
Robbed
5k with 5 obticales that were mostly cargo nets what a joke had to run same twice to get 5k for lousy medal. Most disappointing mud run ever, good for them making money, 65 to run crappy course then 10 bucks for parking then 10 bucks per person to watch the start hahah give me a break, maybe I'll start a mud run and get rich, will never fall for it again.
Save your money
Wow. We signed up for the Family Run to do with my nephew because he loves to do runs. He is four and from the site, it seemed like a good one for him to do, as he had done another mud run last year.
They really didn't have the variety of obstacles as they advertise. They basically had cargo climbs and walls. They didn't even have the big slide for them to go down (which by the way, he saw on the site and that is what got him excited to do it). They took the slide down before all the heats started. Also, the even itself was not organized. There were minimal signage for people to find where to part. A line developed with people making u-turns because the address led to a closed gate. They charged for EVERYTHING! I get charging for parking, but we were robbed, being charged to watch. You were only able to watch the beginning and end of the race. You can't see 90% of the course. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!
Dissapointed
We were contacted to be a food vendor at the event. They agreed via email to our minimum. We completely rearranged our schedule to be at their event. Then when I sent over the contract for the minimum they conveniently had someone else that booked a truck instead and we were no longer needed. Super Shady business. When I emailed they about it they never responded. Sounds like they don't care about anyone but themselves! Very disappointing!!!
Disappointing
Let's start with the good points. The track personnel were very nice and accommodating. The event was well organized. The DJ was on point!!! The track was small so you had to run the course twice to get the full 5K. Which would be fine if...(now the critique)..very little variety in the obstacles. They were all pretty much a climbing wall and A-frame cargo net climbs. Other than that there was a big slide and a mud pit to crawl through. If they had more variety in the obstacles (and more of them) it would have been a great event. We did Muckfest last year and that one had a lot of different obstacles. I would suggest, to the folks who organize Mud Factor, to take a look at other mud runs for ideas for different obstacles.
We actually participated in the 2016 event. If I could give negative stars, I would. This even was horrible. We have done several other obstacle races and this one was by far of the poorest quality. The main reason is the events lack of concern for safety. The obstacles were clearly not safe and put together terrible. Barely any mud and not many obstacles. DO ANOTHER RACE. It is NOT worth a penny.
I didn't realize when my friend asked me to sign up about all the extra charges...parking $10, shirts $15, fees $9...it seems like you are getting a deal with the advertised sale price, but when you add all the fees, it's pretty expensive and I don't event want to waste my time now...especially now that I've read other reviews about $4 bottles of water...kinda takes the fun out of it!
So Much Fun!
I disagree with many of the reviews below. This mud run doesn't claim to be super hard/challenging like you'd get with a Tuff Mudder, Spartan, etc. It claims that it's a fun run, and we had a BLAST! Their mud was super slippery, which made for a ton of laughs! The atmosphere at the run was very encouraging, light hearted and full of comradely. In regards to injuries, you are free to walk around any obstacle without penalty. So, if you're thinking one doesn't look like a safe one for your ability level, you can just skip it.
We plan to do this run every year it's offered in Southern Oregon!!

The weakest of all ORC. It literally is a 25-40 minute course with minimal obstacles. Here's a link to all the obstacles:

(this video is being generous)
DJ is horrible. Music was horrible. Course was horrible. Vendors were horrible.
