4th year and they get better every year. Absolutely the best local run in Miami. Armageddons obstacles have the true feel of an OCR run. They are built big and sturdy. Wishing they do more runs. 5 stars
Fun!
I had read some reviews about prior years' Armageddon Ambush events being disappointing, so I came into it a little wary. But I have to say, they really exceeded my expectations. Fun, unique obstacles (that ice bath was so cold that I couldn't feel my feet until midway through the next obstacle, a climbing wall) really made for a good event.
However, I am giving this event 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple reasons:
First, as mentioned in the last review, that Warped Wall was AWESOME. However, the slide on the other end tore, not only causing a back-up at the top but also taking away a fun emphasis on the race's finish. It was really cool to have it located where fans can cheer everyone on, but it was also anticlimactic to follow that up with a slow mud crawl right before the finish line just to dirty us up again.
Also, at one of the ambushes, one of the volunteers made the effort to throw an entire fistful of the colored powder right at my eye. It hit me like a baseball (I guess he had wet hands that packed it together a bit?), I'm just relieved that I had closed my eyes. It was very irresponsible of him to do that though.
All in all, it was a fun event, and I'll definitely be back!
Great event
This is my 4th year running the armageddon ambush in hialeah, fl and it never disappoints. The distance turned out to be 4.1 miles, so it was cool to push myself a little bit more than a standard 5k. The obstacles were evenly placed apart and they were fun as well. The best part was the huge ramp wall at the end which connects to the water slide. Hundreds of spectators were gathered there, cheering everybody on as they attempted it. It was an overall great event, and I can't wait for them to come back next year. I even got the chance to meet laura, the race director, and she was very kind
Not worth it still.
I ran their first race back in 2013 and again in 2014. I have been very vocal on social media that they should never be called an extreme run mud run. The ambushers are a joke throwing stupid powder in your face as you turn a corner I understand not everybody is out there trying to set a good time however my biggest issue was the very negative messages from the event coordinators when I called them out on the 2014 event. The entire race was a giant bottleneck every obstacle you waited in line and I ran the second heat of the day, I also wasn't a big fan of the inflatables and mentioned as much. There is no listing on the website at all we'd be climbing giant bounce houses the obstacles themselves were far from challenging that's understandable every race needs to cater to those who have never done one I never complain about easy obstacles just a title extreme Mud Run challenging for all levels is a stretch. Sponsored athlete or not just the way they conduct themselves when asked questions and get so defensive over their subpar event there is no chance I will ever run it again. I'm sure they can care less every year they disappoint more and more people but as the big dogs continue to get better we will see less of this and more battlefrog M bone frog challenge moving into South Florida next April. Save your money this race really is not worth it even after the merger because they couldn't afford their own race it became nothing but a nightmare with everybody passing the blame on to someone else instead of looking in the mirror and call it what it is it's a Color Run it's not an OCR and it never will be
This was my third time running Armageddon and you can see them maturing and getting better and better every time. The water slide was killer. There obstacles are big and sturdy no worries when your in them. There staff on and off the course are great. Looking forward till next time.
So Much Fun
First Mud Run- Me and my friends had a Blast. Jumping over the fire was so cool besides all the other obstacles and mud lots of mud. I didn't think we could finish it but all the staff and volunteers cheering us on and helping us over the obstacles we managed to do it. Thanks to all of you.
This was no joke. Great obstacles. Great course. Ran it last year and they out did them selves this year. Looks like I'm driving 5 hours for Miami.
I was not impressed by this event. It got combined with the Running Dirty mud run, which I thought would make it more challenging and interesting. The course was ok but it could have had better challenges. The "ambush" part of the race was also lame. The event didn't have any food or a band (that I could tell). From what I heard, it sounded like bad karaoke. The event seemed very disorganized and not laid out well. They also ran out of medals halfway through the event and we got some cheap plastic bracelets. I've tried communicating with the organizers about our medals (we were told they would be mailed out). I haven't gotten the medals or a response from them. Very disappointing as I ran with my dad and we both wanted the memento of our race together. They also ran out of water so we couldn't rinse off. I love doing mud runs but will never do this event again!
This was my second Armageddon Ambush. Like the first, Loved the Second, can't wait for the third. The color ambushes were awesome a great twist to there great obstacles.
Armageddon Ambush did a very good job of combining two popular elements in this kind of running. The obstacle race and the color run. The obstacles were challenging and plenty, the course/terrain was fun and exciting, and the ambushes of color were fun and well timed. They appeal to all kinds of racers. The ones who want to run a serious obstcale race for time, and the fun runners who want to come out and have a good time getting colored.
