Course Description:
Here’s an event for the entire family at the 2020 GoPro Mountain Games in Vail, Colorado! Ditch the wet wipes and dive head first into the Mountain Games’ legendary fun run guaranteed to get you gooey.
ALL MOUNTAIN MADNESS DIVISION (All ages & abilities)
Short lap style with 2 mud pits and plenty of obstacles to keep you interested. Grab a pal (or a dozen), it’s time to get dirty. Extra super fun points awarded for costumes!
KIDS & FAMILY DIVISION
Have a tiny human that loves to splash around in natural goo? This division is for you. Short lap style with 2 mud pits and enough obstacles to keep things interesting. The more the merrier! Grab your ultimate mountain fam and get after it!
Aid Stations:
No aid stations, but paramedics are on standby for any bumps or bruises. Athlete Lounge is available w/ food & drink for all athletes.
Spectators:
Spectating at the GoPro Mountain Games is always 100% FREE and pet and kid friendly
Parking:
Single day parking is still free this summer at Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures. However, you will need to take a ticket to help the Town of Vail collect information about parking use. Please remember to KEEP YOUR TICKET, you will need it to exit the structure. There will be a $25 overnight fee for vehicles parked in the structures between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Paid parking is available farther east on S. Frontage Road at Ford Park. Free public bus transit to and from parking areas is also provided by the Town of Vail.
Overflow parking on the north side of the South Frontage Road will be allowed once both parking structures are full. No parking will be allowed on the south side of the Frontage Road at any time.
Post Party:
The GoPro Mountain Games is one big giant pre and post party w/ over 150 vendor tents and free nightly concerts at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater (featuring Citizen Cope the night of the Mud Run)
Other:
COMPETITION:
All racers will start and finish the race in the same location in Mountain Plaza in Vail Village. Racers will be sent out in one mass start. Start positions will not be pre-determined and it is up to the athlete to get into desired location.
Athletes will race on the course set up by race directors. Total length of 1 lap is about .7 miles, and course will be pre-marked on Saturday, June 8. Athletes should be prepared to run on all types of terrain ranging from asphalt to forest service access dirt roads to single track, and encounter a variety of features.
No tripping, shoving or horseplay will be tolerated and any athlete participating in foul play will be pulled from the course and disqualified.
No dogs will be allowed to participate in the Mountain Mud Run.
Please note that overnight car camping is not permitted in the the Vail Parking Structures… we’re looking at you, car campers.
