Distributions from the fund are awarded annually via a scholarship to a student that most exemplifies Zach's legacy of giving to and caring for others before himself. From time to time, grants will also be awarded to the JROTC, other high school programs, local volunteer first responder organizations and service-oriented community groups that also exemplifies Zach's legacy. In addition to scholarships being awarded in 2018 and 2019, grants have been made to the Soddy Daisy High School JROTC, the Hamilton County S.T.A.R.S (www.starsrescue.net) and ReBoot Recovery (www.RebootAlliance.com/reboot).
