Course Description:
There will be mud. The race of your life is decked out with obscene quantities of mud, twenty beastly obstacles, and scores of dirty zombies determined to turn you into the Running Dead. When you start the course you will have 3 flags. The zombies on the course will infect you with their mutant zombie virus by stealing all three of your flags (one at a time). After you lose one flag, maybe you have a cough. The second goes, and you’re feeling like you have a bad flu. Lose the third flag and you are officially infected. If you can find a roving medic on the course, you can perform a physical task to temporarily boost your health (the medic will give you a flag). You must have one flag to get an official time (means you qualify for a prize). So if you cross the finish line at 1:30:44, don’t worry so much about your flag. If you lose all 3 flags, you can find a roaming medic on the course who will give you a physical task to perform for a flag. pon completion of the task, you will be given one flag to continue on your journey. The later on the course you find a medic, the harder the task will be.
Obstacles include: Zombie Flats, Rotting Hill, The Slide, Lil Hump, Viper Pit, Zombie Bog, Corpse Bank, Monkey B'ness, Human Burrito, The Wall, Slurry Stream, Fallen, Zombie Oaks, Crawling Dead, Dead Pull, Rubber Trouble, Monster Jump, Jacob's Ladder, Hay Scamper, Parasite Pond, Dead Weight, Zombie Hill.
Spectators:
Spectator passes are $5. Children 13 and under are free.
Parking:
$10 per car. Parking is across the street. You will enter the parking lot on Cedar Creek Road, across from the venue, and exit on Tarboro Rd.
Post Party:
Food will be available next to our party tent. Vendors are independent, and pay a portion of the tent rental only; they do not pay Panic Point a share of revenue. As of now we are scheduled to use a DJ, but are investigating the possibility of live bands throughout the day.
Other:
Gear check: We will have a very large tent with lots of space and lots of volunteers to make sure you can drop it off and pick it up without difficulty. Plenty of Porta Potties will be on site, and a water truck will provide a temporary open shower area. Men’s and women’s changing tents will be available if you would like a bit of privacy.
Deliberate contact is PROHIBITED. Zombies should not push, punch, grab, tackle, hip check, or otherwise physically impede racers. As a racer, think flag football, not regular football. Don’t try to run over a zombie. You can protect your flags by dodging, spinning, sliding, running, and jumping.
Team:
4 racers/team. Each person gets 3 flags. You must cross the finish line together with at least 1 of your 12 flags to be “official”. Think of your team as one, eight-legged beast protecting 12 flags. You all have to cross the finish line, but only one of you has to have a flag. Yes, we realize this is a huge game changer for individual vs. team strategy. If you can effectively surround your last healthy teammate, you may be on the road to victory.
