Race Start Time:
Heats of up to 250 people will begin at 8 am and leave every 30 minutes with the final heat leaving at 2 pm. The first 2 heats of every event are our Competitive Heats, so if you are the baddest of all the badasses then make sure and enter one of these! Get in on these early, because they sell out fast!
Note: If you are registered as an individual, you will select your preferred start time during online registration. If you are registered with a team, only the team captain will select a preferred start time. Please note, while we do our best to accommodate this preference, it is not a guarantee. You will be emailed your assigned start time within a week of the event.

Course Description:
The Inferno events aren't your grandparent's obstacle courses, so throw everything you think you know out the window. It's comprised of 20+ physically and mentally challenging obstacles stretched out over a grueling 13.1 miles that will push anybody to their limits. Unlike every other obstacle course, The Inferno will not have any mud slides, mud pools, or any “all mud” obstacles. Why? Because crawling through a pit of mud is stupid and to be perfectly honest, not all that difficult! However, there will be walls to climb over, hills to traverse, monkey bars and rings to cross, cargo nets and ropes to climb, sandbags to carry, tires to flip, long distances to run, and of course, you can't forget swimming, not wading, which no other course seems to actually incorporate! Basically, if it's mentally and physically challenging, rest assured, The Inferno will have it!
The Inferno is an extreme obstacle course biathlon featuring a 1/4 mile swim and a total distance of 13.1 miles. We've developed a number of challenging obstacles spread out over a rugged terrain in the scenic backdrop of the Pacific Northwest. You'll climb hills, haul sandbags, flip tires, climb ropes and walls, traverse monkey bars, crawl under barbed wire, hurdle fire and now SWIM your way to the finish line! Come put yourself to the test at The Inferno, designed to push you to you limits! The Inferno will have obstacles that require participants to possess at minimum, basic swimming fundamentals and be skilled to not only tread water but also prepared to swim distances ranging from 50 yards to a 1/2 mile. If you don't possess basic swimming fundamentals we recommend that participants bypass these obstacles as basic swimming skills are essential for safe completion.
Aid Stations:
There will be between 3-6 aid stations spread out around the course.
Awards:
We have an awards ceremony for every event day. The awards include (but are not limited to): The Inferno Biggest Team Award and Best Costume Winner.
Spectators:
$20. All children under the age of 10 are allowed free entrance onto the site. Anyone over 10 will need to purchase a spectator ticket and those under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult above the age of 18. Spectator Tickets are available online for $20 until 5 PM on the Saturday before The Inferno Portland 2013. They will be sold for $25 onsite, so don’t delay and buy your spectator tickets now!

Parking:
We will send out this information on parking in our participant information packet 1-2 weeks before your event. There will be a charge of $10/car for most events (Please bring cash).
Post Party:
Over a grueling 13.1 miles The Inferno will inevitably chew you up and spit you out, and there’s no better way to celebrate such a great accomplishment than with an ice cold beer! Lucky for you, there will be a cold one waiting for you at the finish, for all those 21 and older that is. But rest assured, the fun doesn’t stop there! We throw a full blown after party with live music, contests, and awards. And of course there will be plenty of food and beverages available for purchase as well (Please bring cash).
Other:
If you are participating in the US, you MUST be at least 18 years old on event day to participate in The Inferno for legal and insurance reasons. We cannot make any exceptions to this policy, nor will parental consent suffice. As for an age limit, we've come to realize that badasses come in all shapes, sizes, and ages; and there is no stopping a true badass, even if he/she is 80 years old!
We are partnered with Action for Healthy Kids; working together to help end childhood obesity, an epidemic that directly affects 1 in 3 kids in the United States. Any participant that donates or fundraises $50+ will receive a $10 refund. There will also be special recognition to the top individual and team fundraisers. So come race The Inferno and help us burn the fat!
Team:
There is no minimum or maximum team size. However, I believe the saying goes, The bigger the better! All teams that register together will be placed in the same start wave. If team members register late or as an individual and then switch to a team, The Inferno cannot guarantee that he/she will start at the same time as his/her team although all attempts will be made to allow for that to happen. Team members can choose to run the course at their own pace, or run together and finish as a team. However, we leave this decision at each team member's sole discretion.
