Course Description:
5K obstacle course race which will take you up, and down, (and up and down again at least one more time) the challenging terrain of Mount Sunapee in Newbury, NH. Natural (you do realize this is a ski mountain, right?) as well as Adrenaline Junkee made obstacles will keep you using your strength, stamina, balance, brain, and teammates (or perfect strangers) to get you through the course. For those of you that want a little something extra, there will be an additional “Challenge Loop” that will lengthen the race and provide for additional obstacles. Oh….and yes, there will be mud, we don’t call it “The Mucker” for nothing.
Aid Stations:
We have multiple aid stations on the course to provide water, bug spray, band-aids, and encouragement as needed. We also have EMTs on duty, just in case there is a more serious need (but we prefer it if they just stay bored throughout the event).
Spectators:
While much of the event is held on the mountain, we make sure that a fair number of obstacles are positioned low enough on the base that family & friends can be there to cheer. We also provide a map at registration with “good photo op” legend
Post Party:
Believe it or not, it’s not just about the race!!! Our goal is to have you spend (at least) the day with us! In the festival area, there will be plenty to keep you busy after the race and to entertain your family while you are up on the hill. Our festival area includes a food court, bounce house for the kids, vendors, and live music. And of course, this is where Mucker Man hangs out providing commentary on the event!
Other:
A portion of every race entry gets donated to our favorite local
non-profit: New England Handicapped Sports Association (NEHSA). We
can’t say enough good things about this organization and their mission
falls directly in line with the Mucker philosophy of ensuring that
everyone, regardless their individual challenges has the opportunity to
participate in physical activity!
All participants in the 5K race must be ages 12 and up. Anyone
under the age of 18 must have a parental release signed and we ask that
anyone under the age of 14 have an adult race with them.
We
encourage you to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and your dancing feet and
make a day of it! The fun doesn’t stop when your Mucker crosses the
finish line.
In
fact, why not make a weekend out of it? Our region has lots of natural
beauty to explore. Spend the night at one of the local hotels at the
base of the mountain and use Sunday to take a swim at the state beach on
Lake Sunapee, hike Mount Kearsage for some incredible views, or head
into town and check out our wonderful shops and restaurants (check your
swag bags for coupons!) Of course, Mount Sunapee also has their off-road
Segway tours, ropes course and zip lines canopy tour open…just be sure
to book tickets early, these activities are usually sell outs.
The Adrenaline
Junkees believe that nothing sets the stage for active adults like
having active kids so we have developed two age appropriate obstacle
courses so that the entire family can get involved in the Mountain
Mucker event. And yes….we PROMISE that there will be mud for the kids
so bring old shoes and a change of clothing for the munchkins! And don’t
forget, if you sign up for adult races and kids races together, you
receive a $15 discount on your order total by using the code
MUCKEDFAM15 at checkout.
Our Micro-Mucker
race is approximately ¼ mile course with mud, obstacles, and age
appropriate challenges for kids aged 5-7. The Mini Mucker Race takes
place at 10am so be sure to plan your race times so that you can be
there to cheer on your Micro-Mucker!
Our Mini-Mucker
race is approximately a ¾ mile course with mud and exciting obstacles to
challenge kids aged 8-11. The Mini Mucker Race takes place at 12pm so
be sure to plan your race times so that you can be there to cheer on
your Mini-Muckers!
While we
encourage you to keep your own time if you are interested, our focus is
on getting people to complete the event and try something they didn’t
know they could do.
We want all racers
to set their own pace and challenge themselves at whatever level they
are comfortable. How fast or how slow you go is up to you….just keep on
plugging to the finish line, we promise it will be worth it!
Dogs are not
allowed on the course. Well behaved pups on a leash are o.k. in the
festival area. Owners are responsible for providing water for their
pets and for cleaning up after their animals. Animals that are left in
vehicles unattended will be reported to the authorities and the owner
held responsible.
