Course Description:
Woodland trails are well marked and well traveled on uneven rocky terrain and sometimes cross pavement, and sometimes small hills. Mud obstacles include scaling walls, through tubes, under logs, and mud pits.
Walk, sprint, skip, jog, or dance through trails, over walls, through tubes, and mud pits with names like Commando Crawl, Over-Under Logs, Slickey Slide, and more! Wear anything you feel comfortable in. Anything. A bikini, a costume, overalls, a prom dress, whatever. But it will get dirty!
Aid Stations:
First Aid Stations and Water Stations are located at intervals throughout the course. Paramedics are on standby. Snacks and water are available at the Finish Line.
Prizes:
ACE Adventure Resort gift certificate prizes are awarded before the run starts. Prizes are awarded to: Furthest Traveled, Most Creative Team Name, Best Team Costume
Spectators:
Spectators Enter for Free and may watch from designated areas at the mud course. Bring your family and friends and their cameras to cheer for you at your Gritty best. Be sure to show your appreciation for their support after the race with a heartfelt, mud covered hug! (No pets)
Parking:
Parking is Free! Parking attendants direct parking on event day. A shuttle service is provided back and forth all day, between the parking and check-in areas. Carpooling is recommended.
Post Party:
The fun doesn’t end at the finish line – ACE is an Outdoor Adventure Resort! Stick around for free live entertainment at the Lost Paddle Lounge beginning at 8pm. Check out Package Options when you register, for great ways to spend your time making memories, like a Lake Pass for more awesome fun or to kick back on the beach, and refuel at the Lost Paddle, Woody’s, and/or the Huge Dinner Buffet, or slip away to relax or celebrate in a private cabin with a hot tub!
Upon registration, add-on water park passes, rafting, zip lines, paintball, rappelling, rafting, stand up paddle boarding, camping and dining when you register. Prices are per person.
Other:
DINING OPTIONS AVAILABLE: Breakfast Buffet in the Lakeside Dining Hall starting at 6:30am. Lost Paddle Bar & Grill has wings, sandwiches, etc. and icy drinks, prices vary, from Noon to Midnight. Woody’s Brick Oven Patio Grill specializes in pizza, prices vary, from Noon to 8pm. Huge Dinner Buffet in the Lakeside Dining Hall, from 5pm to 8:30pm.
Your participation in Gritty Chix helps support southern West Virginia’s Women’s Resource Center providing temporary shelter, counseling, advocacy and supportive services for victims, survivors, and witnesses of domestic and sexual violence, and First Descents providing free outdoor adventures to young adult cancer fighters and survivors.
Wear a solid pair of running shoes, and consider bringing a towel, a bag for wet clothes, a change of clothes, and waterproof sunscreen. Shower houses and changing rooms are available.
