Course Description:
Wild Mud Run is back in 2016 and our mission is to make this event even better than before. The swampy terrain, undulating hills and magnificent wooded areas mean we can utilise what nature has kindly given us to make this the muddiest race in the world. The magnificent lakes in the grounds play an ideal partner to our signature obstacles – the water slides, creating maximum squeal appeal. Bring as many spectators as you like, we do not charge the support crew and they will enjoy roaming the grounds watching you as the course turns you from serious athlete into smiling swamp donkey as you battle your way through more mud than Glastonbury!
Welcome back to the Wild Mud Run which will take place in the gorgeously historic grounds of Osmaston Manor in Derbyshire, a truly magnificent and dramatic parkland setting. After a phenomenal start to the last years race calendar when the Wild Mud Run made it’s dramatic debut and was such a roaring success due in no small part to the amazing location.
The adventure race will be in the usual 5k and 10k formats, a trail and mud run with over sixty challenging obstacles in the full race distance. You can expect to encounter mud, water, tunnels, monkey bars, fire, giant walls, cargo nets, balance beams, hurdles, jacobs ladders, tightropes and the assault course.

X-Runner Challenge puts camaraderie above finisher rankings and is NOT a timed race but a team challenge, allowing participants to experience fun, exhilarating obstacles in a controlled environment.
Spectators:
All spectators are welcome free of charge so please do bring along as many supporters as you like.
Parking:
On-site parking is provided at £5 per vehicle so please remember to car share to save costs and the environment.
Post Party:
There will be plenty of opportunity to purchase drinks and food whilst on-site in the event village. Some venues will operate their own refreshments and where there is no provision for this, we will bring in mobile catering units to keep your tummies satisfied.
Other:
There is an advised minimum age of 15yrs for the 5K and 18yrs for the 10K however individual abilities vary greatly so the decision must lie with the consenting adult / parent.
There will be a designated bag store area which we will fully supervise from start to finish so you can leave your things if you choose. There will also be a key drop area which will be fully monitored and managed. Whilst we make every effort to keep everyones items secure, we cannot make guarantees and items are left at the owners own risk.
There will be a cold water bowser at every event where you can wash off the worst of the mud and cool off after the race. At most events there will also be the option to purchase a VIP hot shower, these spaces are very limited and issued on a first come first served basis. If you want to reserve a VIP shower, please email your details to s.black@x-runner.co.uk There will also be plenty of portable toilets in the event village.
Complete slackers need not apply! You don’t have to be an experienced distance runner or gym fanatic but we recommend that you be in good physical condition and are running regularly. Most importantly you will need strong mental endurance to complete the obstacle course and overcome the ultimate challenge. We recommend that you start training for the event 12-8 weeks prior to competing and we will give you a thorough warm-up at the start line to get you started.
Some of our events will have an element of open water swimming. In these events the swim will be around 50mtrs, we provide buoyancy aids for weak swimmers. As with all the obstacles and challenges we will encourage but not force you to try everything, nothing is compulsory. Other events may have a short section where swimming is involved depending on water temperature on race day, again nothing is compulsory. We would recommend that all participants should be able to swim with out any aid and be confident in open water.
Challenge heats are NOT timed, however there will be a clock for each wave showing your time as you cross the finish line.
Team:
You can register as the team leader and create your own team during the registration process. You can then invite your friends to join your team by email invitation through the customer portal during the registration process. You can decide to make your team private and invitation only, or you can select an open team whereby people can see your team name and sign up to join you. If you are invited to join an existing team, you will receive an email which will give you a link directly to the teams registration page.
