Other:
The theme of this event is ""Get Dirty for Clean Water"" because the proceeds of this year's Kalamazoo Mud Run support Lifewater in providing clean water to roughly 10,000 people.
Every day in Kaloko, Zambia, families gather their water from any above ground source they can find. At one point the village had seven wells, but now all those wells are broken. The water the villagers use now is unsafe and often leads to illnesses - some even deadly. Carrying heavy buckets of water for hours each day is also a tremendous hardship on the community. It keeps many of the local children from going to school and often prevents parents from working full days like they need to.
The Kalamazoo Mud Run will support the village of Kaloko by sponsoring the needed repairs to get all seven wells back up and running, as well as provide additional wells, community hygiene and sanitation training, and even parts inventory for future well repair and maintenance.
Team:
Teams are a minimum of 4 runners with no maximum. So get your family, friends, co-workers, classmates, sports team, or church group together and form a Kalamazoo Mud Run Team.
The Team Run is a timed event. Each team member will receive a timing chip. The team time will be determined by taking an average of all of the team members' times. All team members must finish to qualify for awards. If a team member does not finish, the teammate who does not finish will be assigned a finish time of 60 minutes. This is so we can post a team time (not eligible for awards).
