Course Description:
Enjoy natural river showers via snow guns, river crossings, a huge mound of snow to climb, a NEW & IMPROVED giant slippery slide, plenty of other challenging obstacles, and fresh mud to run and crawl through.
Enjoy a scenic chairlift ride to the TOP of Marquette Mountain, then complete your chosen 4 mile or 2 mile race to the finish line at the chalet. The courses will lead you through a set of switchbacks and various obstacles along your 550 foot descent to the finish.
Aid Stations:
4 mile course has 3 aid stations (2 on course, and 1 at finish).
2 mile course has 2 aid stations (1 on course, and 1 at finish)
Awards:
Chip timing will be used to record competitors’ times. Each runner’s time will be automatically recorded when crossing the start and finish lines.
The top male runner and top female runner of the 4 mile course will be awarded commemorative Marquette Mountain Mud jerseys and be given free registration for next year’s race to defend his/her title.
The top male runner and top female runner of the 2 mile course will be awarded commemorative Marquette Mountain Mud hoodies and be given free registration for next year’s race to defend his/her title.
Marquette Mountain Mud mugs will be awarded to the top finisher in each of the following age brackets for both male and female racers in the 4 mile course and 2 mile course: 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
Marquette Mountain Mud glassware will be awarded to each member of the top finishing team in each category: female team, male team, and
co-ed team. Teams consist of at least 4 members but no more than 6.
Prizes:
Competitive costume categories will be awarded in two areas: Cartoon Characters & Zombies. The top individual costume for each costume category will be awarded free registrations for 2015 Marquette Mountain Mud so they can return and strut their stuff again!
Best Team costume categories will be awarded in two areas: Cartoon Characters & Zombies. Winning team for each costume category will be awarded gift certificates to area businesses to go celebrate their feat!
Spectators:
Spectators may view the course finish for free.
Spectators can also ride the chairlift to the top of Marquette Mountain for a $5 lift fee. They can view the race as they follow a designated footpath to make their way back down the mountain. See the race start! See the obstacles! Get an amazing view of Marquette and Lake Superior from the best seat in the house!
Parking:
Parking is free. Parking is right across from race grounds. No need for shuttles.
Post Party:
Follow your challenge with friends, food, drinks, and live music or watch the kids play in this year’s FREE children's mud park!!
Other:
Proceeds from race allow the Marquette Mountain Ski Patrol to continue to provide the best service and equipment to keep the skiing and riding public safe.
Proceeds also allow the Marquette Mountain Ski Patrol to support the local Women's & Children's Center by purchasing new ski helmets to give to area youth.
Ages 4-9 may participate in FREE children’s mud park.
Runners age 10-17 must have a parent sign waiver day of race.
Runners age 10-15 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the race.
Team:
Teams consist of the following: female team, male team, and
co-ed team.
Teams consist of at least 4 members but no more than 6.
Team scores are calculated by adding the times of their 4 fastest runners.
