Race Start Time:

The Elite first wave starts at 8:30am. Wave is 100 participants.
Timed Waves 9:40am & 9:50am. Each wave has 100 participants.
After that starting at 10:00 a wave of 100 participants goes off every 15 minutes until 11:30.

Barber Beast on the Bay

Get ready to unleash the Beast! 10 miles, 30 obstacles, 1 goal: the mantra of the Barber Beast on the Bay, a one-of-a-kind obstacle course race that combines natural and manmade obstacles at top voted location in Pennsylvania! The seventh annual Barber Beast on the Bay is set for Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Presque Isle State Park (USA Today’s ‘Best Pennsylvania Attraction’) in Erie, PA. Participants will take on 10 miles of sand, water, and trails – it’s the nature of the Beast! Be ready to run, jump, climb and crawl across more than 30 obstacles on the shores of Lake Erie. And while you tackle your challenges during the Beast, you’ll also be helping the children and adults with autism, intellectual disabilities and behavioral health challenges at the Barber National Institute who take on their own obstacles on a daily basis, as the event supports the non-profit and its 6,200 individuals. A one-mile adapted course will also be offered for those ages 12+ with physical or intellectual disabilities at Waldameer Park and Water World, a theme park in Erie, PA next to Presque Isle State park. The 10 Mile Course and Adapted Course come together at the end as one and all participants cross the finish line together! And, yes, we love all eyes on us – spectators are encouraged to cheer participants along the Beast’s 10 Mile Course and Adapted Course. All are welcome at the finish for our post-race festivities including music, dancing, food trucks and ice cold beer!

Course Description:

10-mile course over sand, trails and water. More than 20 obstacles will have participants climbing, crawling, running and rolling, with a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie that you won’t ever forget.

Aid Stations:

We have 4 Aid stations located on the course. We also have paramedics at half way point and at the finish line. There are 3 nutrition stops along the course that provides fruit and energy bars. There are 8 water stations along the course as well.

Spectators:

Unlike some events, spectators are able to go on the Beast course free of charge and cheer on participants. Closer to the event we will have a more detailed map with the location of obstacles and some suggested viewing areas.

Parking:

Ample parking is Free to the public and to participants.

Other:

Your support of Barber Beast on the Bay will help the Barber National Institute provide greater hope and opportunity for children and adults with disabilities and their families.

Team:

If you would like to participate with a team, please create a team on your online registration form and invite your friends and family to join your team. All team members Should sign up for the same wave time. You may also join an already existing team.
