Organizer:

Tonka Mud Run To support those who face the challenge of hunger by completing a challenging athletic event. The event will in turn promote exercise, family activities, community fun, local businesses, and the beauty and activities found at Minnewashta Regional Park.

Tonka Mud Run is your family friendly mud run to fight hunger. On August 24th, we are going to have two races at the beautiful Minnewashta Regional Park to support Kids Against Hunger-West Metro.

The Tonka Mud Run is a little over a 5k. You can run the entire course and take a timed finish or you can opt to run a portion of the course and take a JHF (just have fun) finish. Our obstacles are family friendly and rate higher on the fun scale and lower on the risk scale.

For our mini mudders, we have the Mini-Tonka Mud Run. It is only about 1/4 mile with obstacles appropriate for your little one. The fire department will be on hand to give safety demonstrations.

Bring the family and enjoy a day of fun and exercise that helps a good cause too!

Course Description:

The Tonka Mud Run is 3.5 miles with shortcuts and winds through the beautiful Lake Minnewashta Park. There is prairie, pavement, trails, and beach to traverse by running, crawling, jumping, climbing, and tunneling your way through. Challenges include building sand castles, navigating a maze, doing the limbo... and the final obstacle is the mud bath! The “Just Have Fun” option allows racers to take shortcuts and enjoy as much or little of the course as they choose. The Mini-Tonka Mud Run is a quarter-mile long for younger children.

Aid Stations:

Chanhassen Fire Department will be present for emergencies. There are two water stations during the event.

Spectators:

Spectators are free to come and watch or volunteer and get a cool t-shirt!

Parking:

Parking is tight. We highly recommend carpooling. We may also be adding a shuttle service this year,

Post Party:

After the race, get hosed off by Chanhassen Fire Department, dance to the DJ, or participate in a number of other activities designed for family fun. Returning to the Post Party are the Chanhassen Fire Dept, DJ Bill, and the Carver County Parks Department.

Other:

All proceeds go to Kids Against Hunger - West Metro because we think kids should play in the mud, not eat mud!
