Course Description:
CMC is the world’s fastest growing community of Patriotic Athletes: combining 4+ miles of obstacle racing with our revolutionary first challenge, The PIT. Mud washes off, wounds heal, and sore muscles recover, but the pride that comes from conquering a CMC will never fade.
The PIT is CMC’s first challenge, requiring both physical and mental fortitude. This 5-minute AMRAP workout (As Many Reps As Possible) consists of athletic, military-inspired, functional fitness movements designed to level the playing field between endurance and strength athletes. Your teammates, the spectators, and our DJ’s beats are your inspiration. Come prepared, put your strategy to the test, and dominate The PIT!
Obstacles may include:
Ranger Ropes, Ladder Walls, Gauntlet, Hay Bale
Mountain, Log Carry, Mud Pit, Water Crossing, Forest Run, Low Crawl,
Hurdles, Inverted Walls, Over-Unders, Downhill Water Chute, The Asp,
A-Frame & Trench Unders, Cargo Nets, Half Pipe High Crawl, Foxhole
Tunnels, River Run.

The CMC competition is designed for all level athletes to test strength, endurance and agility. Race day structure consists of “The PIT” (strength element) transitioning into a mountain run with military obstacles positioned throughout. The difficulty of the course is determined by you the competitor, whether you are a weekend warrior looking for the ultimate challenge or a competitive athlete looking to win... CMC is for you.
The PIT consists of 3 basic movements and it is designed to be the great equalizer by leveling the playing field between power athletes and endurance runners to determine the best overall conditioned athlete. As a competitor your goal is to accumulate as many repetitions as possible. The exercises in the PIT are simple universal movements that all athletes, no matter what sport or fitness background, can relate to.
Rules Inside The PIT
Competitors must remain at their station until instructed to rotate.
Individuals and teams will be randomly assigned to a strength element in the PIT upon entering the “On Deck” area.
Competitors will start the round in the standing position in front of the strength element.
Do not touch or perform any exercise until the buzzer has sounded. Once the buzzer goes off the athlete can then start.
Dropping or throwing of any weight (kettlebell or thruster bar) above the waist will lead to the disqualification of all repetitions for that strength element.
Any unruly behavior in the PIT will lead to expulsion from premises.
Rotation of Stations
Once the buzzer is sounded to end the round, the judge will walk with you to your next station.
Upon completion of all 4 strength elements competitors will transition to the mountain course.
Set a Goal: Each competitor determines the difficulty of the PIT and obstacle course by how hard you push yourself.
This unique structure is what separates the Civilian Military Combine from all other races and competitions.
This race structure has been carefully created, refined and reviewed by the top strength and conditioning coaches from the Cross Fit community, United States Armed Forces and USA Triathlon Organization Race Directors.
RULES
PIT Staging Area Prior To Start Time.
All competitors will receive their start times via email prior to the race.
In addition, heat start times will be posted on the CMC website.
It is suggested that all competitors report to the PIT staging area 30-45 minutes prior to their scheduled heat time.
Failure to arrive at the CMC PIT on time will disqualify the competitor from the lifting portion of the event and they will be ineligible for awards.
Obstacle Course Race
The obstacle course race will consist of 5-7 miles of running with 20-30 military obstacles throughout the course.
Any running out of the course boundaries will result in elimination from the competition.
Follow signage at all times and listen to course marshals for directions.
Obstacles
Course Marshals will be present at all obstacles.
Every obstacle must be completed to be eligible for awards.
Course Marshals will keep track of competitors who do not complete obstacles. Bib numbers will be submitted to the Race Director by the Course Marshals.
Competitors are not required to complete all obstacles due to physical limitations.
CMC will provide showers at every event.
Team:
Minimum team size is 3 people with NO maximum size limit.
Please notice, early heats sell out fast. Make sure that you select a heat that will accommodate all of your teammates. Please notice all your team members to register ASAP because our registration system is on first come first serves basis.
If a heat does not appear at the heat section that means that it is sold out. If your teammates are in heat that is sold out you will have 3 options:
You will have to discuss with them and have the entire team moved to a heat that is able to accommodate everybody.
Wait for somebody to switch his/hers heat time so that you can join the rest of your team in the particular heat.
Start new team with other people that would like to join the particular team. We would do our best to accommodate all team, however for greater satisfaction we suggest to keep the teams smaller and to register soon before or after the rest of your teammates.
At the CMC events, teams are NOT required to finish together, however that is up to you to decide as a team. Because of the scoring structure of the CMC races, strategy comes into play within teams. As a team you can separate at the starting line and allow your faster runners to take off and do the race at their place. Or you can all run together and help each other throughout the course. The team score is based off the average of all the members’ PIT reps and run time, if a person on the team finishes faster that will bring the average time down for your entire team.
If your team has 6-15 members, you each get $5 refund
If your team has 16-24 members, you each get $10 refund
If your team has 25+ members, you each get $15 refund
