Race Recap: Terrain Race Colorado Springs 2018

2018 marks the first year Terrain Race has an event in both Denver and Colorado Springs. This was a brand-new race venue for participants and was a much different experience than the Spartan Fort Carson Honor Series from earlier in the year. Racers were introduced to new style obstacles, more mud than they had earlier in the year, and a fun family-oriented experience.

Roughly eight thousand people headed to Eden, Utah and the Nordic Valley Ski Resort to run what would be the final stop on the 2018 Spartan U.S. National Championship Series, a venue that is a great place for families to enjoy winter sports and recreation has been transformed into a battleground for Spartans from far and wide that proved to be a struggle for many, especially for me.

Race Recap: Terrain Race, Flagstaff

1,000's of people flocked to Flagstaff, Arizona to escape the heat of the valley and to compete in the Terrain Race on July 21st.  While the valley hit temps of 116 degrees, Flagstaff was an absolutely beautiful 75 degrees.

Having an event located on/near a military base and naming it an "Honor Series" I expected a lot of patriotic fanfare and pride for our nation's military. However, at the end of the day, it just didn't measure up.

Warrior Rush is a 5k Greek-inspired Obstacle Course Race (OCR). The race had several divisions including an elite wave, an open wave, a 6-hour race and a 24-hour race. This meant that regardless of your ability level or interest, there was something for you.

Race Recap: Under Armour Mountain Running Series in Copper Mountain, CO.

Launched in 2017, the Under Armour Mountain Running Series is a trio of trail races that take place in Copper Mountain, CO, Killington, VT and Mt. Bachelor, OR. The first 2018 race concluded last week in Copper Mountain, CO where the base elevation was 9,800 feet and the peak elevation during the longest race, a 50K, was 12,000 feet. Runners completed either a 5K, 10K, 25K or 50K mountain run full of steep climbs, rocky terrain and beautiful woodsy downhill single track trails.

Race Review: Battle OCR St. Francisville

Near record-breaking heat. More hills than anyone thought possible in Louisiana. Almost more obstacles than could fit on to one course. That’s the Battle OCR that took place on July 21, 2018 in St. Francisville, LA.

Laser Panther – Running Homage to the 80s

When you hear the name Laser Panther, automatically you think of either the old bands like Laser Panther, or the 80s with incredibly short running shorts, long knee high socks, and neon.  All the neon.  Laser Panther’s race from the SA Trail Company was just that, a grand attempt to pay homage to all things neon, and it did a decent job.

Last year after the Rugged Maniac event in Cloverdale, BC, Canada, my husband and I decided to challenge ourselves and sign up for the Rugged Maniac X - this option allowed runners to complete as many laps of the 5km course as they wanted.

Carter & Stevens farm hosted Savage Race last year and began hosting Spartan races in 2015, they have parking, festival area and clearing of the course down to a science.
