Gear Review: Montem Sneaky Snuggler Puffy Blanket

By |October 18th, 2018|

I recently picked up the Montem Sneaky Snuggler Puffy Blanket. While the name sounds like it should be some sort of children’s toy, the usefulness of it reaches all ages.  You may be thinking why am I reviewing a blanket on an Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) website, I think you'll see the reason by the end of this article.

Product Review: “Just the Tip” Atomik Climbing Hangboards

By |October 11th, 2018|

If you feel that you have already done maxed out your closed hand crushing grip strength, maybe it is time to take things up a level. By working on fingertip strength you can add another level to your obstacle proficiency that may be the difference between success and failure.

Race Review: Rugged Maniac Kansas City

By |October 9th, 2018|

Rugged Maniac is known for their fun obstacles and great festival area. After failing to fit one into my schedule the last two years, I finally got a chance to see what was new in 2018 at Rugged Maniac Kansas City.

Gear Review: OOFOS OOmg Shoes

By |October 4th, 2018|

I usually like to build up some anticipation regarding the product I’m reviewing, but I’ll cut to the bottom line up front for this one. OOFOS new shoes, the OOmg Shoes, are super comfortable, if you are a serious athlete and don’t own a pair you need to stop living in the past.

Product Review: Harbinger Weight Vest

By |September 27th, 2018|

If you spend time at a normal gym or grew up reading issues of Muscle & Fitness, the name Harbinger should jump out at you. I have trouble going into a gym without seeing someone using one of their products like gloves, wrist wraps, lifting straps or weight belts.

Extreme Timber Challenge’s (4 mile/40 obstacle) Race Review

By |September 21st, 2018|

It had been two years since I went to the Kansas City’s Extreme Timber Challenge venue for a race. Having raced the permanent course (located in the southwestern portion of Kansas City or Bonner Springs to be exact) before and left thinking it was only a course for beginners, I figured it was time to give them a second chance. After all, race courses and companies can change….right?

Training Tuesday: Get Your Team Certified (RockTape Basic FMT)

By |September 18th, 2018|

I recently was able to attend RockTape Functional Movement Techniques Basic: Kinesiology Taping Certification. If that confused you, it’s an eight hour block of instruction about using RockTape (a brand of kinesiology tape) to help manage pain, assist in fluid drainage and improve posture.  The course is designed for medical professionals such as occupational therapists, personal trainers, massage therapists, chiropractors and doctors of veterinary medicine.

MudGear: More Than Just Socks

By |September 12th, 2018|

I think everyone who knows the acronym OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) knows the name MudGear. MudGear makes the bestselling socks in the OCR world designed for handling the rough conditions of OCR events. While their original socks are awesome, I’m a fan of their race branded socks highlighting three of my four favorite companies in OCR, Conquer The Gauntlet, Green Beret Challenge and Savage Race.

Review: InsideTracker

By |September 6th, 2018|

I used to think things like blood tests were only for athletes like those in large professional organizations or those preparing for the Olympic. Now, thanks to InsideTracker, that same data is available to everyone from the person finishing last that walks the entire length of Warrior Dash all the way up to people like World’s Toughest Mudder Champion and Spartan Pro Rea Kolbl.
