I started out in OCR when I was 50 years old. I was that far out old man who the youngsters wanted to emulate. They told me over and over they hoped they could be in as good shape when they were my age. My goal is to be in this good shape for the rest of my life.
When you’ve been doing OCR as long as I have, the social media queue stacks up at this time of year with last race of the season memories. Spartan Honor Series West Point Sprint was a trail of tears, fears, and cheers. Before the race even started, social media was full of tears about the poor parking logistics. More on that later. Many fears were faced today as the terrain of this “easy rolling hills” advertised race was anything but. Cheers echoed around those hills however as Spartans and veterans conquered obstacles of every sort.
Recently, I brought you live coverage at Facebook live on Mud Run Guide of the 8th Annual Medford Lakes Triathlon. Like me, you may have felt a bit of déjà vu. The scene and the people looked familiar. The beach, playground, cabana, lake, policemen directing traffic, and lots of athletes stirring around waiting to start a race.
A couple years ago I met Justin Gielski at the playground where we were both training. He was videotaping some spots for his upcoming appearance on American Ninja Warrior. We have trained together and one thing that describes him is drive, recently he put his mind to a new goal.
