Margaret is Editor-in-Chief of Mud Run Guide. She has been part of the OCR Community since 2010. When not working on the next article she can be found running from race-to-race as a competitor. She founded DirtinYourSkirt.com, an OCR community for women as well as former contributing editor for Mud and Obstacle Magazine and industry expert for About.com. She authored the book Obstacle Race Training.

Small Series Spotlight: Frontline OCR

Frontline OCR was founded by Ed Leon in July of 2016. Leon was inspired by the desire to create an event that would help raise awareness for first responders and the military. As someone who works in law enforcement, he has seen first hand the sacrifices made to protect the public. The five-mile obstacle race with over 37 obstacles has quickly become a favorite for many.

The coffee routine at my house involves weighing and hand grinding freshly roasted beans, warming my mug and pour over set with one set of water. At the same time heating another kettle to an exact temperature before meditatively pouring over the beans.  Simply, it is my morning moving meditation.

Small Race Series Spotlight: Zombie Charge

Zombie Charge offers you a unique obstacle racing experience, zombies included. The race series was started in 2013 with events in Connecticut, Houston, and Miami. It was one of the first zombie-themed races in the industry and allows racers to sign up as runners (called “survivors”) and be chased OR for the first time sign up as a zombie and get a makeover and chase runners.
