2020 marks the return of the OCR World Championships to the United States and a familiar venue of Statton Mountain, VT - home of the 2018 & 2019 North American OCR Champs. The 100 Meter Championships is also returning to the OCRWC after s successful debut in Essex, UK.
Monday early morning in Moscow, Russia, athletes from the Americas, Asia, the Pacific, and Europe celebrated their performances after the Ninja OCR World Championships. 2,000 competitors raced head to head over a spectacular and challenging 160 m course, flanked by thousands of spectators following the athletes.
At 370 grams (13 oz) the ROCLITE G 370 isn't much heavier than some stability running shoes I've run in over the years, and they are significantly lighter than a few pair of hoops hi-tops I have in my closet. The performance of these all-mountain shoes are worth every little gram. For the life of me, I can't figure out how a pair of shoes could be more suited for the duties of race director than these. Period.
The inaugural Spartan Trail Season comes to a grand finale December 15, 2019 when the sport’s best athletes descend on Los Olivos, CA for the “Spartan Trail US Championship Presented by Altra.” A $50,000 prize purse is on the line for the top 10 elite male and female competitors in the 10k and 21k races, which is the largest purse ever offered in trail running history for the two distances.
As the sport of obstacle course racing continues to mature, we'll see more events changing hands or vacating the space altogether, merging with other events, and new variations of the sport pop-up. The core of the sport will always be the participants, and as long as there are events being offered that excite and challenge participants we're sure to see the sport continue to exist and even grow in new avenues.
