Every Day is Global Running Day – Just Run!

By |June 7th, 2017|

Do you love running? Hate running? or are you like me (and I suspect the rest of the active world) - you love to hate/hate to love running? There's no question about the effectiveness of running on your mental & physical health, no matter how hard many of us try to avoid daily/weekly mileage, running is a huge part of our lives - or, at least it should be.

US OCR Champs 15k Map Puzzle

By |June 5th, 2017|

While the map dropped on USOCRC's Facebook page earlier today, there was very little info on how to "move" the pieces to see more of the map, and apparently that's still a mystery that founder Adrian Bijanada is keeping mostly mum about. We do know from the past that Adrian likes to tie in reveals of this sort with challenges, contests, donations to charity, obstacle reveals, etc. and today's release is no exception - kicking off brand new 10% discounts for Pro (MRG10PRO) and Age Group (MRG10) divisions.

Mix Up Your Training to Find Your Fire

By |April 18th, 2017|

Losing the Passion Author's note: I started writing this last year while I was really in some fitness doldrums, and this will be a multi-part series trying to explain how I re-ignited my passion for fitness. First, here's how I lost it. Whether it's your job, friends, relationships, or stuff like your car, phone, house, and [...]

24 Hours of Testing – TomTom, Tailwind, Icebug, Drywear, & More!

By |April 7th, 2017|

I've rarely ever had a big issue with jumping into the fire with new gear, if it works as anticipated and I don't have to think about it at all it's a win. Occasionally, I will be blown away by the performance of a product and the entire time I'm running I mentally craft the product review with flowery superlatives... that I forget once my endorphins abate. During the 24 Hour Terrain Relay, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to test the following gear:

Why Every OCR Athlete Needs a Dryrobe

By |April 6th, 2017|

Imagine if a weatherproof Cookie Monster gave you a bear hug - that's what slipping a dryrobe over your cold, wet body feels like; the only thing missing is an espresso machine in one of the inside pockets.

24 Hours of Ow & Wow – Terrain Racing Relay

By |April 5th, 2017|

Each lap of approximately 5 miles featured three different loops; Technical, Strength, and Speed. Each of those loops needed to be completed in order, and only the final number of loops completed by the time cut-off at 2pm on Sunday, there were no partial miles awarded for any unfinished laps. Each obstacle must be completed within 3 tries or penalty lap/exercise was incurred.

Gear Review: Feetures! Elite Graduated Compression Light Cushion Knee High Socks

By |March 30th, 2017|

The light cushioning in the toe area along with the lack of compression or a seam (The Perfect Toe) adds to the comfort, and they didn't feel too thick at all in my shoes while running, too constricting on my toes or allow them to slide around inside the sock.

Icebug Oribi – Trail & Road Racer

By |March 28th, 2017|

The 2017 Icebug Orbi are quite easy to write off on first glance; they just don't look like trail shoes, much less a high-tech racer. The shiny bright blue upper is contrasted by a cute little bug in eye-catching orange with each shoe cinched up with thin, seemingly simple laces - so one could be forgiven if dismissed these as pretty walkers or everyday kicks. Of course, you'd be wrong.
