Course Description:
The obstacle course is on the beach - it does not require any swimming. There will be approximately 12 challenging obstacles on the sand. Be prepared for the sun, heat and hot sand!
This event has 2 competitive beach obstacle course races: the first is a relay race where teams of 4 compete for the best completion time, and the second race is open for individual racing. The race is designed to test teamwork and grit on the sand and is open to athletes of all levels. We have created a community in South Florida who found camaraderie overcoming sand and sun-drenched obstacles and adrenaline pumping challenges on the beach. This is an official chip-timed race.
Aid Stations:
Energy drinks, water, oranges, etc. will be available at the registration station.
Awards:
Awards Ceremony at 1:30pm
Relay Race: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards
Individual Mens: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards
Individual Womens: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards
Spectators:
Bring your friends and family for a great day on the beach to watch the races.
Parking:
There are 2 city parking lots within walking distance of the race (meter parking at $1.25/hr).
Post Party:
Post-Party for racers includes free food, Budweiser refreshments, live band and give-a-ways! Food and Drink vendors arrive at 11am.
Other:
This year’s Pompano Beach Fitness Relay Race will be benefiting the Special Olympics of Broward County, because we believe in the empowerment of special needs athletes to train and strive to meet their goals and dreams.
