Hunter did what he said. He kept his legs still as possible. But Cassidy used her legs to kip up. His point about focus on getting up without worrying about his feet latching on is true. But I’d like to see three pros go head to head with each technique. I’ll do the S-wrap. Are you ready for the OCRMudmaster Hunter?
Anyone competent at the rope climb will get up and down in less than 10 seconds. The decision about which technique to use isn’t about being faster, as we are only talking about a small handful of seconds. IMHO, it’s about saving your smaller and weaker muscles (your grip and your pull) for obstacles where you HAVE to use them, and using your legs to climb the rope. For me, the J-Hook is the fastest and easiest, although the S-wrap is probably the most secure. Also, having the 2 leg techniques in your tool belt can be life-savers on rigs.
