What is Tough Mudder?
Tough Mudder is a team-oriented 10-12 mile (18-20 km) obstacle course consisting of mud and obstacles built to test your mental grit, camaraderie and all-around physical fitness. Tough Mudder puts camaraderie over finisher rankings and is not a race but a team challenge – no winner, no finisher medal, no clock to race against—just an ice cold beer and a few good scrapes from a day spent outside and free from everyday bullshit.
We are for anyone who has ever followed their gut, tried to defy gravity, chosen “dare” over “truth,” taken risks, sought thrills, or is generally awesome at life. Turns out, it’s all been training. We are Tough Mudder.
The Mudder Pledge
- We understand that Tough Mudder is not a race but a challenge.
- We put teamwork and camaraderie before our course time.
- We do not whine – kids whine.
- We help our fellow mudders complete the course.
- We overcome all fears.
Here Are the Facts:
FACT #1 – It's fun. Real fun.
Bring your friends. Bring your family members. Bring that dude in your office that always shows you photos of his cat. The more the merrier. Tough Mudder is not a race, it’s a teamwork-oriented challenge that puts camaraderie over course time.
FACT #3 – Finishing feels THAT good.
“Euphoria” is one word people often use to describe finishing. “Ecstasy” is another. Participating in a team event like Tough Mudder gets people in shape and out of their routines and comfort zones.
FACT #2 – You can do it. Seriously.
With the right amount of training and preparation, you can complete a Tough Mudder. At the start line all Mudders pledge to help their fellow Mudders complete the course and leave no Mudder behind. You are no exception to that rule.
FACT #4 – It gets you pumped up.
Once you sign up for a Tough Mudder, it’s time to start training. Tough Mudder isn’t just about event day, it’s about your entire Mudder journey–from the adrenaline rush of committing to the glory of that finish line beer.

TOUGH MUDDER IS BACK
Tough Mudder is back for 2021 and its bigger and better than ever before. Bigger obstacles, bigger teams and more challenging than ever!!! Grab your team and come out and have the most fun you can with your clothes on. Time to get muddy!!!
Incredible race
This race/company has absolutely knocked this season out of the park. Biggest Obstacles are back at all the races, water, mud and electricity everywhere. New location was out of the mountains but still challenging enough for the seasoned mudder but a great course for new mudders. If you havent done a Tough Mudder before or in a while DO NOT hesitate to sign up and enjoy this incredible event
Did anybody try?
I’m writing this review a few months late because I am signing up for another race and will not consider Tough Mudder anymore. I have done 3 tough Mudders and this last one in the Tristate area we invited a group of 10. The course was just repeated. One you did the half mudder you just did all the same obstacles to make it a full. It seemed like no one tried putting the race together and just got lazy and had everyone repeat the same course twice to make the 10 miles. 3 obstacles were broken down and that included the blockness and the last one which are the best. We were so disappointed. No more Tough Mudder.

Lousy village
The entire village at the end was a muddy mess - no way to clean up after the race. Only one kind of beer. 90 minute line to get on a bus back to the car. No lie, no exaggeration. 2 stars because the course is good like 4 star but it was run like crap - zero stars for the muddy hole you were supposed to have fun inat the end. Plus they never responded to email even though I’m a corporate group sponsor. We’ll be going elsewhere in 2019.
Tough Mudder Nashville
the sign up process and when and what to do where at is a little confusing and really needs to be streamlined with details. this was our first one, so this may change next time, but it was more difficult than it needed to be. other than that, IT WAS AWESOME. Had an amazing time with my wife and we got one hell of a workout. highly recommend.
It was a great time. Aside from the fact it was $20 to park and our family had to pay $25 per person to watch. Even my 4 year old daughter. Then $10 per bag.Im trying to get my family involved in an active life style and teach my daughter she can do anything. Plus we were told a free beer and that was a lie to. They gave an amazing speech about team work before the ran. But missed that and where just trying to make a dime.
Spectator Ticket is a Sham
Don't waste your money on a spectator ticket! You get absolutely nothing and tickets aren't needed even though the website states you must have a spectator ticket to attend. This was not true.
Upon arriving and literally walking up to the obstacles to spectate (absolutely no ticket needed!!!), I was determined to learn what my $20 ticket was for and went extremely out of my way just to get my ticket scanned. Turns out the ticket is for nothing except a bogus wristband that's never checked. Total sham.
I contacted Tough Mudder for a refund, but their customer support was terrible. They simple insisted that a wristband was required and I attended the event so they weren't refunding. A wristband wasn't required and the spectator ticket was a joke. Nothing but a money grab. Don't waste your money!
2018 Chicago Tough Mudder
This event was a complete money grab. Huge disappointment! The registration process was a nightmare. The event itself contained a fraction of the obstacles they used to have in regards to quality. The consolidation of the race into loops made for a horrible participant and spectator experience. As a participant the repetition was extremely unsatisfying and boring. Running the same stretches was a disgrace and repeating obstacles was almost pointless. As a spectator the shear amount of confusion and disorganization was disrespectful. Finally, the event has turned into a walking lollygag where actual runners find themselves weaving and bobbing through hordes of walking buckets of lard. Looking for a different event like Spartan going forward.
Absolutely terrible experience for spectators
I was a spectator that went to cheer on my wife, who was participating in a team as a bachelorette party. While I cannot comment on this event as a participant, I can say that the experience from a spectator was absolutely terrible. Not only did they charge us over $20 just to enter the grounds, there were no signs in directing us to spectator parts of the course, the maps were absolutely useless, and the staff/volunteers were even more clueless than me about times and directions (apparently, the organizers decided to change the course path and starting times without informing anyone else). I was spectating with my infant son, and while trying to figure out where I was and how to reach a spectator position to cheer on my wife, the weather turned for the worse, and I asked to go into a heated tent so my son could warm up a little bit, since there were no buildings around. I was met with some smart-ass attendant that not only denied me access to the tent, but went on to blame me for bringing my son to the event in the first place!
I have never experienced a more disorganized, disrespectful, and blantantly money-grabbing event in my life. Up yours, Tough Mudder. You will never scam another cent out of me again.
