Hogwaller Mud Run The Hogwaller is a mud run obstacle course along the Rio Grande River.
Mud is cool and so is Alamosa, Colorado.
Temps range from a low of 44 to high of 80 on average in the summer.
So, Beat the Heat BBQ was created - a sanctioned championship BBQ competition.
The Hogwaller Mud Run let's you play like a pig so you can eat like one!

Course Description:

The Start and Finish is in the middle of Cole Park, where the aroma from BBQ cooking all night will be entice you to finish quickly.
After a couple of mud features and running through the bicycle pump track, you will plunge into thick willows.
Your focus might be on avoiding pain from whipping willows, but you might want to pay attention to strange creatures that fling mud.
Your respite on the river dike won't last long before you plunge down into the Rio Grande, and then you will slug along through swampiness until you get back up on the dike past the State Ave Bridge...then do it all again.
On you way back, you will zig zag through (and over) trees. More mud and natural obstacles will have to be overcome through a cottonwood forest before getting back to the dike that will take you back to the park.

Will have 1 aid station about halfway.

Age groups every 10 years

Spectators are free, there's lots of great places to watch and take pictures.
