Shale Hill Adventure Shale Hill Adventure Farm offers a unique training experience that utilizes both natural and man made obstacles to help build stamina and endurance that is unmatched with other training techniques. We focus on building a solid core that will enable you to increase your performance level for a longer period of time. We will make you mentally and physically strong enough to reach goals that you never thought were possible. We train everyday, rain or shine. We are not a fair weather group, but we do offer an indoor gym for those days that you just want to pump some iron or work out on our heavy bags.

3 members of the same team may sign up for the Relay Team Division. Create a team name and all members of that team are to sign up under that name at registration. No refunds. Wave transfers FREE. Participant transfers FREE. Date change policy: NEXT DAY if inclement weather and PARTIAL REFUNDS or CREDIT for another event at Shale Hill if event is cancelled due to weather only.

Course Description:

MOUNTAIN BIKE PHASE: Start out on single track for 1/2 mile and then mostly dirt/logging roads for next 5 miles, single track/hilly/rocks to lake and then reverse mountain bike back to start.
SWIMMING PHASE: Open water swim in Vermont's Lake Champain. At any point in the swim you can stand up. This phase happens between the two bike phases.
OBSTACLE RUN PHASE: After your 2nd mountain bike phase, you return the start and transition from your bike to obstacle course. Our obstacle course is located in the rolling/hill countryside of Vermont's Champlain Valley. Short/steep bursts of loose gravel/shale hills, open meadows and wooded trail running throughout along with 35 - 60+ obstacles along the way :-)

Aid Stations:

EMT/Medic on site and available throughout course.
Water/fruit stations at all transition points as well as 3+ water stations on the obstacle course.

Prizes:

PRIZE MONEY $$$ to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the ELITE DIVISIONS only.
Cash amount is determined by how many sign up.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes offered to OPEN SPRINT & OPEN POWER DIVISIONS (Youth, Adult age groups and Masters).

Spectators:

SPECTATORS are always FREE at Shale Hill!! Spectators are welcome to roam the course, but stay out the line of participants.
Dogs are not allowed on the course. Quiet dogs need to be leashed at ALL TIMES! No dogs in the food vendor/tent area. Please be kind and clean up after your doggie-doo :-)

Parking:

Parking is plentiful, close and FREE and within 300 yards of venue start.

Post Party:

DJ and music offered all day by local DJDC. Food vending provided by The Wheel Inn of Benson, VT.
Participants and volunteers are get:
1 FREE beer or non-alcoholic beverage of their choice 1 FREE burger and chips
Food, beverages and beer available for purchase for spectators. Must be 21 or older to purchase/consume alcohol.

Other:

Minimum Age is 14 y.o. to compete as of the date of the race.
Event is timed with splits for each phase.
And we have a hose down station available for clean up after the race.

Team:

Relay Teams can sign up. 2-3 per team (1 person for each phase, or 1 person may do 2 phases and the 2nd person 1 phase).
