With a community like the one around Mud Run Guide, it is often hard to limit the community members of the week down to two individuals. Each week our social media guru Bonnie Wilson combs through those posted tagged with #mudrunguide. She picks two to highlight. This week we highlight two athletes who were taking on obstacle races on both sides of the United States.
First, we start with Orla Walsh (@orlawalsh16) taking on the North American Obstacle Course Racing Championships. Orla aka the “Vermonster” had this to say about the event:
“@noramchamps you did not disappoint! 1.8 miles and obstacles I have never seen before! I kept my band and had a blast out there on course! So amazingly proud of everyone this weekend! Great job! Thank you for such a great race venue (Vermont!), all of the staff and volunteers! 7th place female pro division, is definitely not what I shoot for, BUTTT not every race can be your “A Race”! Having some time off since TMX, enjoying the short summer with my @danschwartz3 , and getting my flight nursing job all set… is the balance I needed and now the fire is lit and it is stronger than ever! I knew heading into this race i wasn’t going to be the fittest or fastest…. but the race was a good marker to see where exactly my fitness was and where I want it to be! BUTTTT you best watch out! The Vermontster is back and she’s still hungry AF! Noram 3k 2019… I’ll train for you and be ready next year!”
Our second athlete was tackling Spartan Race outside of Portland. Fabian Lindner (@fabian_runs) writes:
“I came, I saw, I missed my spear… Derp. It was fun to throw down, but I’m even more excited to hang out around Portland! Great to see some old friends, sad to have missed a whole lot more of you guys – next time!”
