Spartan is gearing up for the inaugural Spartan Kids World Championship to be held in Laughlin, Nevada this November. The brand is looking to highlight the next generation of obstacle racers. Athletes ages 10 – 13 will be vying for up to $10,000 in prizes showcasing the best youth athletes globally.
Kids from across the globe will put their physical and mental grit to the test when Spartan hosts its inaugural Kids World Championship in Laughlin, NV. Presented by the Laughlin Tourism Commission, the Obstacle Course Race (OCR) will see qualified competitors ages 10 to 13 years old vying for up to $10,000 in prizes on the most challenging Spartan Kids race course to date.
“Each year, Spartan motivates more than 300,000 young participants to step outside of their comfort zones on the race course and with OCR’s growing popularity, we wanted to add this new challenge,” said Spartan Kids Race Director Justin Ross. “For the first time in the sport’s history, The Spartan Kids World Championship will bring kids from all over the globe together to celebrate fitness and have some fun while competing against their peers and we’re excited to watch it unfold in Laughlin.”
The Spartan Kids World Championship is a gated event, open to kids ages 10 to 13 years old who have placed top three at any Spartan Kids race around the world from January 2018 through November 4, 2018. It’ll be a race against the clock as the young competitors take on a nearly 3-mile long (5-km), double lap course with more than 40 signature Spartan Kids obstacles including the low crawl, spear throw and dunk walls. The top five male and female finishers will receive tiered prize packages, and the podium finishers will receive limited edition award plaques. All competitors will receive an event-specific finisher t-shirt and medal.
In addition to the championship race, kids ages four to 14 can participate in open races throughout the day with no qualification necessary.
The Spartan Kids World Championship and Kids races take place of Spartan’s Laughlin event weekend presented by the Laughlin Tourism Commission. The weekend also features Spartan’s signature adult events including the three to five-mile, 20 to 23-obstacle “Sprint” and eight to 10-mile, 24 to 29-obstacle “Super” races. More information about the championship is available on Spartan's website.
