This morning popular race director, Garfield Griffiths, has resigned from his post at Savage Race. He sent us a statement regarding his resignation and future plans:
“I have tendered my resignation from Savage Race [this morning]. I wish the best for Savage Race but plan to shift my focus for the future. I intend to spend less time on the road away from my family, and will be concentrating more on my position as Director of Race Operations for the OCR World Championships organization. Additionally, I want to open up the option of consulting for other race organizations.”
Griffiths went on to say, “I do 100% wish Sam Abbitt, Lloyd Parker and ALL of the Savage Race Team well and thank them all for a great time in 2015, I really learned a lot with your organization. I can't wait to see Savage Race continue to grow as an amazing race series and market leader in 2016. “
Griffiths helped to elevate the profile of Savage Race this year with his role leading the SavagePro division as well as the introduction of several new obstacles.
Sam Abbitt, CEO and co-founder of Savage Race commented about Griffiths resignation,
“I wish Garfield the best of luck. As Garfield mentioned, he wants to spend more time focusing on family and OCRWC. We appreciate everything he's done for Savage Race this year. He assisted us with further developing our SavagePRO program, worked on the SavageJR course, and he helped out with event setup around race weeks. I was surprised to learn of Garf's sudden resignation so close to our event.
However, our core build team and course designers are all still here producing amazing events as they have been since 2011. We're looking forward to the remainder of this year's events.”
