FORMULA4 MEDIA ADDS EXPERIENTIAL ZONE TO TENTH ANNUAL THE RUNNING EVENT CONFERENCE AND TRADE SHOW

Growing Beyond Traditional Running, Dec. 1 to 4, 2015, Austin, Tex.

AUSTIN (July 27, 2015) – Running is one of the most popular fitness activities in North America, but it's not necessarily practiced in a straight line. While marathons, particularly half-marathons increase in popularity, so does Obstacle Course Racing (OCR), which The Running Event (TRE) will examine in a new Experiential Zone adjacent to the main hall of the Austin Convention Center, Dec. 1-4, 2015.

The 10th anniversary of the TRE conference and trade show, produced by Formula4 Media, will also identify the critical issues facing runners and running specialty retailers today. An estimated 900-plus specialty retailers from around the world representing 400-plus store locations, will travel to Austin to learn from retail experts and see the latest products from over 300 exhibitors including the major shoe, apparel, accessory and sports technology brands. In all, over 3,000 industry professionals are expected to attend.

Elite OCR competitors will use a specially constructed indoor obstacle course on Wednesday, Dec. 2, to illustrate how retailers can grow their businesses and attract a new breed of runners. The TRE Experiential Zone will also feature hands-on use of other sports products which will be announced shortly.

For running specialty retailers, TRE is the year's best opportunity to see new products in  advance, while interacting with industry and business thought leaders, international brands and exciting emerging companies. The Running Specialty Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Independent Running Retailer Association (IRRA), will hold its induction ceremony at TRE;

the Indie 5K is back, this time joined by The North Face Sunrise Trail Run at Ladybird Lake; TRE 2015 will host the 50 Best Running Stores in America awards sponsored by Competitor and Running Insight; and speakers for the event include Scott Stratten of Un-Marketing who will explain how to compete and win against big boxes and the Internet.

The new TRE Master Class, open to just 20 stores with $4 million-plus in annual sales, will focus on creating and managing personal wealth, building an organization that will insure long term success, and ensuring the best ideas are implemented.

“The running market is massive,” said show director Troy Leonard. “But there are still many challenges facing retailers on the road to profitability. We'll exhibit the best apparel and gear, and host seminars featuring the best minds in the business to ensure our market keeps growing, and stays smart.”
