Race Start Time:

Start times are staggered based on the divisions.
Eagle Division: 10 a.m. Serious and experienced athletes who are looking to push themselves to their limits
Hawk Division: 10:30 a.m. Intermediate-level athletes who haven’t had much or any experience with this sort of event.
Falcon Division: 11 a.m. Fit athletes whose number one goal is to finish the race.

Michigan Dirty Bird Mud Run The Dirty Bird is a challenging 8K (five-mile) race held on the Dowagiac campus of Southwestern Michigan College, combining military-style obstacles (8-10 obstacles), hilly terrain, mud, and whatever bonus Michigan weather provides.

Runners will sprint from the starting line and immediately face two major obstacles before advancing through the unforgiving hills of SMC’s storied cross-country trails, navigating the muddy ‘Dirty Bird’ ravine, and finally facing another set of obstacles leading to the finish line.

Course Description:

Combining military-style obstacles (8-10 obstacles), hilly terrain, mud, and whatever bonus Michigan weather provides .Runners will sprint from the starting line and immediately face two major obstacles before advancing through the unforgiving hills of SMC’s storied cross-country trails, navigating the muddy ‘Dirty Bird’ ravine, and finally facing another set of obstacles leading to the finish line.

Awards:

Awards will be given to the top team in each division.

Other:

The net proceeds from the event will fund scholarships for military veteran students at Southwestern Michigan College.

Participants must be 18 years old or older on the day of the race.

Honor a current or former military service member with a flag. The flags with your messages will lead racers to the finish line. Honor Flags are $10 each. (See Register-Support the Event above).

Team:

Three-person teams will compete in one of three divisions based on fitness and experience. All team members must reach an obstacle before it can be attempted; all team members must complete the obstacle before moving on to the next. Team effort is paramount for the final completion of this event.
